Harry Maguire has been claimed as an exciting prospect by United ever since his impressive performances at 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.
Jose Mourinho has been keeping a close eye on various defenders to bring some stability and strength into United’s defence. The Red Devils have been pursuing Toby Alderweireld to join their squad, but Tottenham has been unwilling to let him go. As the transfer window is slowly coming to an end, Mourinho will do everything in his power to bring one quality center-back and it seems that Harry Maguire has been shortlisted by him.

United has been linked to Harry Maguire from quite some time now and according to Sky Sports Sources United have officially placed a bid of around a whopping £65m for the Englishman. But, it seems that Leicester’s manager, Claude Puel, does not want the world cup star to leave the foxes as they are willing to increase his wages from £45k to £75k per week.
Maguire doesn’t seem too unhappy at Leicester City but is clear about to get into talks with bigger clubs. Recently in interview with the Sun he talked about his ambition to play at top club.
” Every player wants to play at the highest level.”
“I’ve just come back from playing at a World Cup, where I really enjoyed the high pressure of the games.”
“It was something that I really thrived off.”
“Leicester have been unbelievable to me and I’m really happy there but I’m also an ambitious player and everyone wants to play at the top.”

Amidst all this talk about Maguire leaving Leicester, Puel claims that he is not looking forward to loose another one of his key players. Their key player Riyad Mahrez has been transferred to Manchester City earlier this month. According to Manchester Evening News, Puel seems confident to keep his main defender at King Power Stadium.
“It is important for Maguire to continue for Leicester. It is a good feeling.”
“If our players are interesting a lot of clubs it is because we are recruiting well and doing good work. It is important we continue this.”
“When we welcome players back from the World Cup, I hope we can give them the opportunity to continue advancing their ambitions and perform in the Premier League.”
– Claude Puel
Mourinho is not going to back down unless he signs an essential defender to his squad. He thinks that United is not good enough to win the title and he is going to add two more players to his squad before the transfer window closes.
Harry Maguire is the right choice for United’s defensive void. He is a strong center-back with a lot of potential also he is consistent and does not crack under pressure. Not only was he essential to England’s road to Glory but also a crucial part for Leicester city in last season.
He arrived at Leicester from Hull City for a fee of £17m in 2017 and has already won the player of the year for his amazing run in the leagues last season. This shows that he is a promising prospect and is quite the perfect defender United needs.
Signing Toby Alderweireld would be a great deal as he is more experienced than Maguire but the 25 years old Englishman would provide as a long-term solution for United’s defensive loopholes.
With only two weeks to go for transfer deadline day, Mourinho has to act quickly and wisely in order to win the Premier League title and restore our former glory days.
