Man United vs Barcelona

Here is the team news as Man United prepare to take on FC Barcelona to secure a spot in the Round of 16 of the UEFA Europa League. Both the teams have a chance to progress, as the previous game ended in a 2-2 draw at the Camp Nou, leaving the tie delicately poised.

Over the weekend, United secured a 3-0 victory against Leicester City, with Marcus Rashford scoring twice and Jadon Sancho adding the third goal. The match also marked the end of Casemiro’s three-game suspension following a red card in their win over Crystal Palace. Meanwhile, Barcelona beat Cadiz 2-0 at home this weekend, extending their winning run in the La Liga.

Injury/Suspension List:

Christian Eriksen and Donny van de Beek are still recovering from long-term injuries, and it remains to be seen whether Anthony Martial, Harry Maguire, and Antony will recover from their injuries in time for Thursday game against the Catalans.

Scott McTominay made a return from his lay-off and performed well as a substitute against the Foxes on the weekend. Casemiro will most likely take his place back in the starting XI following the completion of his three-game domestic ban.

On a more positive note, Lisandro Martinez and Marcel Sabitzer will be available after missing the first leg due to European bans. Additionally, Raphael Varane and Tyrell Malacia are potential starting options for the defence after being left out on the bench against the Foxes.

On the other hand, the Blaugrana will have a weaker midfield with the likes of Pedri and Gavi missing the Europa League fixture at Old Trafford due to injury and suspension respectively. Ousmane Dembele’s thigh injury will also keep him out of the game

Meanwhile, Ronald Araujo will return to the team after serving a domestic ban, and Sergio Busquets, who has recovered from an ankle injury, will replace Pedri. Gavi’s absence gives Ansu Fati a chance to impress against Manchester United, the team he is linked with for a summer transfer.
