Man United Are Still in Search of a Winger But Will Grealish be The Answer?

Jack Grealish, Grealish to United, Jack Grealish Aston Villa

According to reports, Manchester United have held talks with Aston Villa over a deal for Jack Grealish and are looking to make him their prime target after securing the signature of Ajax midfielder Donny van de Beek. Grealish has been linked with the Red Devils all summer and Ole is said to be keen to add the Villa midfielder to his ranks.

The transfer market has been a fairly busy place for the top Premier League clubs except for Manchester United, who are still looking to fill out the gaps to compete for the top spot. Donny van de Beek has been the only signing for the Red Devils so far and they are in dire need of a left-footed central defender and a pacey/skillful right-winger.

The “Sancho Saga”, to the disappointment of the United supporters, has come to a dry end after Borussia Dortmund’s Sporting Director Michael Zorc announced that Jadon Sancho will remain in Germany next season.

“We plan with Jadon Sancho. He’ll play for us next season. The decision is final. I think that answers all of the questions.”

Owing to the growing frustration over the Sancho deal, Manchester United are reported to turn their attention towards Aston Villa’s Jack Grealish, who has just received his first ever England call-up. However, the 24-year-old midfielder will not come cheap.

Well, no English player comes without a price tag, and the same stands for Jack Grealish, with Aston Villa expected to charge over £80million for their star player. Reports state that Aston Villa and Man United have spoken over the possibility of him being able to play in the Champions League, given the calibre of the midfielder and Grealish wanting a new challenge as well.

Certainly, Aston Villa will not stand as a barrier to their star’s betterment, but only at the right price. With Villa keen to add a goalkeeper and a right-back as part of their summer rebuild, United could offer Sergio Romero (GK), Dean Henderson (GK), and Diogo Dalot (RB) in a swap deal with Grealish. Henderson and Romero are both admired by Villa, but United will let them go the other way only as possible loans.

Talking of filling the empty spots, United seem to have lost their interest in the previously linked Monaco centre-back Benoit Badiashile, with reports of a £21 million offer from United. Instead, United have shifted their interest towards RB Leipzig centre-back Dayot Upamecano, who recently signed a new contract with the Bundesliga team. Dayot Upamecano has been touted as one of Europe’s top defensive prospects with clubs like Real Madrid, Arsenal, and Manchester United showing an interest in him.
