Manager’s Corner: OGS speaks about Lindelof and Shanghai

Manchester United are on the prowl as they remain unbeaten in their #MUTOUR. The players have been the manager’s pride till now in their pre-season. The Red Devils have registered four victories on the trot in their pre-season friendly fixtures. Manchester United won 1-0 against Inter in their first game and Tottenham in the second of the International Champions Cup.

The main feature about the #MUTOUR is all about giving chances to the youths. Tahith Chong, James Garner, Angel Gomes, Axel Tuanzebe and Mason Greenwood have played aplenty in the pre-season fixtures and have shown glimpses of the future of the Old Trafford based outfit.

Before the club beat Tottenham Hotspurs 2-0 in their second match of the International Champions Cup, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer attended the mandatory press conference in Shanghai. The Norweigan briefed up about the injuries to Victor Lindelof and Romelu Lukaku, before expressing his views about Shanghai.

The Swedish defender was substituted early in the second half against Inter in Singapore. But, the manager confirmed that the player would feature against the North Londoners and he did so, although as a substitute. However, Lukaku was absent against Tottenham also as mentioned earlier by the manager due to his injury.

“Lindelof is fine but Lukaku won’t be fit, no.”

“He [Lukaku] has been working with the physios the last few days. I don’t think he’ll make this one either.”

Ole Recalls Shanghai Experience

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was asked about his experience in Shanghai. He was on full praise for the Chinese city. Ole recalled his past experience of 1992 and also gave his opinion about the current scenario of Shanghai.

I scored two goals, which was fantastic for me as a player. Of course I’ve changed since then and the city of Shanghai has changed as well. As I’ve said before in an event, it’s a majestic city.”

He also praised the fans of Shanghai and thanked them for their presence. He also said that MUFC wants to repay the faith of the fans.

“We know that we have many, many fans here. So I hope that we can repay them by playing a good game tomorrow, but also by showing who we are as human beings when you sign autographs and take pictures with them

At the end of the press conference, OGS showed gratitude for the translator as she translated every answer of the manager to Mandarin.

“I can’t really confirm what she said is right, but I think she deserves a clap, the translator. I’ll keep the answers shorter next time!”

Author’s View:

Manchester United have been quite consistent in the pre-season friendlies. However, the victories here might help to gain confidence before the much-awaited start of Premier League. Howsoever, there remains a question mark about Paul Pogba’s availability on the opening day of PL as he is rumored to move away from Old Trafford.
