Manchester United Planning A Move Sensational Move For £110m Rated La Liga Sensation With First Round of Talks Held Already

Joao Felix to Manchester United Transfer

Manchester United held talks with the representatives of Atletico Madrid attacker Joao Felix over a move to Old Trafford this summer. The English Giants still need more signings to strengthen their squad. United have lost both of their opening games in embarrassing fashion and the need for new signings is more than evident.

Joao Felix has come to life at Atletico Madrid since last season. The 22-year-old forward also scored against Manchester United in a friendly match a few weeks ago. Felix scored 10 goals and assisted 6 times in 35 appearances for Atletico Madrid across all competitions last season (stats via transfermarkt). He has become a threat for opposition defenders and a player to be marked in all situations.

Manchester United are trying to sign a right winger but have not found any luck in their attempt to sign Antony from Ajax. Antony is pre-dominantly a right-winger but Joao Felix can play in any position in the final third. United’s lack of creativity from the wings was evident in their 1-2 loss against Brighton at home. Felix’s pace might allow him to run in behind the opposition defence and create better goal-scoring opportunities.

According to Marca, Manchester United sent their officials to Wanda Metropolitano when they were also enquiring to Real Madrid about the availability of Casemiro. However, Los Colchoneros do not intend to sell Joao Felix as they view him as a ‘franchise player’. On the other hand, United remain determined to do business in Spain, be it Casemiro or Felix.

Manchester United have received their wake-up call after suffering two back-to-back defeats even after a decent pre-season. They need the right recruitments and should now be more focused on getting their deals done. Till now United have signed only three players and none of them has been able to cement their place in the starting lineup just yet.

Why Have Manchester United Made An Attempt To Sign Joao Felix?

Joao Felix has very good pace. He combines his pace with impeccable dribbling, making it easier for him to beat the defenders. This allows him to create extra space for himself to get an inch-perfect final ball in for his teammate. Felix has very crafty in possession and can hold onto the ball in critical situations.

The 22-year-old Portuguese also has a very good eye for a killer pass. Not only is Felix a good playmaker but he is also known for his finishing skills. The youngster has shown instances of his clinical finishing at Benfica and now at Atletico Madrid as well.

Joao Felix scored a very difficult diving header against Manchester United last season in the round of 16 of the Champions League. It also suggests that the Portuguese is quite good at heading the ball. Felix is in general very prolific inside the box. He also has the weapon of stinging long shots in his arsenal.

The 22-year-old forward mostly plays as a second striker for both club and country. If he plays the same role at United, it will allow the fullbacks to progress further up the field and add more pressure on the opposition from the wings. Joao Felix will be a very good signing for Manchester United but the asking price as well as Atletico’s intention whether or not to sell can be an issue while heading into negotiations.
