£70 million Rated Manchester United Forward Rejects Move to Tottenham

Marcus Rashford, Arsenal, Manchester United, Tottenham

Earlier, reports in England suggested that Tottenham Hotspur were interested in signing Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford (via Football London). The Manchester United star had been linked with a move away from Old Trafford this summer.

In order to continue the progress after helping Spurs return to the Champions League, Tottenham boss Antonio Conte will be looking to bid on players who could add depth and quality to his squad.

After achieving Champions League qualification for next season, Antonio Conte expressed his desire to replenish the squad during the summer transfer window. The Italian spoke about this situation quoting:

“We need to improve a lot. Next season the league will be very difficult for all the teams. You need to improve a lot your squad in quality aspect and numerical aspect.”

Spurs were linked with a number of options and two deals have already been confirmed, with Ivan Perisic and Fraser Forster joining the club as free agents. It is Marcus Rashford who is lately on Antonio Conte’s radar. However, United have dismissed the possibility of their striker joining Tottenham, especially when a price tag of £70 million makes it too steep for the North London club.

The 24-year-old only has one year remaining on his contract but has endured a disappointing 2021-22 season. Marcus Rashford managed to get just four goals in the net in 25 league appearances (stats via Transfermarkt). The forward has also been out of favour at Old Trafford and has struggled to relish the joy of first-team football, unlike his teammates.

This situation has raised a few eyebrows over his future at the club. But despite the rumours, Manchester United are keen on retaining their versatile striker who they do not want to risk losing on a free transfer similar to that of Paul Pogba and Jesse Lingard. The Red Devils are confident about their striker staying at Old Trafford who is ready to fight for his spot under new manager Erik ten Hag.

As understood via Daily Mail, Rashford looks ready to ‘reset and refresh under Erik ten Hag’ as the forward doesn’t wish to leave the club where he grew up. In fact, he is prepared to put the last season behind him and start fresh ahead of the new campaign. The situation yet remains cloudy as to what the future holds for Marcus Rashford, but it definitely appears that it won’t be at Tottenham.
