According to fresh reports in England, Manchester United are looking to snap up Brighton & Hove Albion wonder-kid Evan Ferguson in the upcoming transfer window. Manager Erik ten Hag wants to bring in a striker this summer and the Brighton youngster has emerged as a potential target.
The Red Devils are in desperate need of a new striker this summer. Wout Weghorst is currently on a short-term loan deal from fellow Premier League side Burnley while Anthony Martial’s injury issues have been persistent all season long.
Evan Ferguson has been in blistering form this season with 8 goals and 3 assists in all major competitions (stats via Transfermarkt). The 18-year-old also has 5 goals and 1 assist for the Brighton U-21 side in Premier League 2. He has also played 4 games for the Republic of Ireland, scoring 1 goal (stats via fbref).

Reports from the Football Insider suggest Manchester United are planning a raid on Brighton to sign their young sensation Evan Ferguson this summer. The Red Devils have already sent scouts to watch the young striker in recent weeks.
However, Ten Hag’s side are not the only team targeting the Irish international, with fellow English sides Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur also vying to land the forward. Unfortunately for Manchester United, Evan Ferguson is most likely to snub a transfer this summer.

As reported by The Metro, the youngster wants to stay with the Seagulls to make the most of the first-team opportunities he gets. The young forward fears he may not get regular playing time at a club like United or Chelsea.
Brighton are currently 7th in the Premier League table. Roberto De Zerbi’s side are 7 points off fifth-placed Tottenham, but have played 2 games less. They have a genuine chance of European football next season, and that could be a good incentive for Ferguson to stay on.
The 18-year-old striker only signed his first professional contract with Brighton & Hove Albion in October last year. Since joining their youth side in January 2021, the Irish forward has had 18 goals and 3 assists against his name in 39 appearances.

Evan Ferguson has a very exciting player profile. At 1.83m, the wonder-kid has the right build to function as a typical “poacher” in the box. He also possesses excellent link-up play to play off defenders and involve his teammates. He is also adept at dropping deep and getting involved in the build-up when necessary.
At times, the Irishman has operated as a “false-nine” for De Zerbi, allowing the Italian to develop a free-flowing brand of football. His hold-up and play-making ability have even been compared to Harry Kane in an analysis by Breaking The Lines.
