Matteo Darmian to United, Darmian moves to Juventus from United

According to reliable sports outlet in Italy, Football-Italia, Manchester United has set the price tag for their versatile defender, Matteo Darmian. Manchester United has set a price of €10 million for Matteo Darmian who has fallen out of favor at Old Trafford.

The Story

Four seasons ago, Manchester United signed Matteo Darmian from Torino for a reported fee of €18 million. However, with very less play time at Old Trafford, the versatile defender is looking to move away from England with many clubs linked to him. Valencia CF is heading the race to sign Matteo Darmian from Manchester United. Few reports in Italy claim that Darmian’s representatives met Valencia CF director in Milan yesterday.

Matteo Darmian played a pivotal role in the promotion of Torino from Serie B to Serie A in 2011. The versatility of the player caught the eye of the then manager, Louis van Gaal. Darmian not only played as a defender but as a fullback, he showed his attacking prowess as well. Under van Gaal, he made 39 appearances.

However, the honeymoon period of Darmian ended under Jose Mourinho. Jose Mourinho relied on the players who just sit back and defend rather than venturing out from their lines. This resulted in Matteo Darmian playing just 29 games in the next two seasons. He found himself on the bench more often.
