Very Crucial Game Ahead for the Red Devils, Top-Four Spot on Stake | Team News, Injuries and Predicted Lineup – Man United vs Wolves

Manchester United vs Wolverhampton Wanderers, Wolves

Let us take a look at the team news as Manchester United get ready to face Wolves in a crucial game on Saturday. The Red Devils are locked in a 5-team battle to secure a top-four finish in the Premier League.

Following back-to-back losses to Brighton & Hove Albion and West Ham United, Erik ten Hag’s side are now just one point ahead of fifth-placed Liverpool, although the Reds Devils have played one less game. Although Wolverhampton secured their top-flight safety in the last game, they could prove to be a challenging opposition at the Theatre of Dreams under the leadership of Julen Lopetegui.

When Manchester United faced them on New Year’s Eve, the Wolves were in the relegation zone. However, they have gathered 27 points in 2023 and are now well above the drop zone. It’s worth noting that most of their improvement under Lopetegui has come at home. The Red Devils must get a victory at Old Trafford this weekend to secure their top-4 position.

Injury/Suspension List:

Apart from Alejandro Garnacho’s recent return from an ankle injury, there haven’t been any updates in the Man United infirmary. Both Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez have been absent due to injuries, with the Argentine out for the remainder of the season after undergoing foot surgery. Additionally, Tom Heaton, Donny van de Beek, and Scott McTominay have also been sidelined with injuries as the season approaches its end.

Wolves, on the other hand, are likely to have the same squad as the last game, with Boubacar Traore building up his match fitness and Chiquinho and Sasa Kalajdzic recovering from long-term knee issues. Toti Gomes may start at left-back, but Raul Jimenez continues to be out of favour.

Although Lopetegui may be tempted to give opportunities to fringe players, it would be advisable to stick with a tried-and-tested formula against the Red Devils. With Diego Costa in the mix, he could pose a challenge to United’s weakened backline.

Player To Watch Out For – Matheus Cunha

One of Matheus Cunha’s most notable skills is his dribbling ability. He has exceptional control of the ball and can weave past defenders with ease. His close control and quick feet enable him to change direction quickly, leaving his opponents behind.

The Brazilian forward is also known for his creativity. He has excellent vision and can pick out exquisite passes in the final third of the pitch. He is not only a goal scorer but also a playmaker, with the ability to create opportunities for his teammates.

Another skill that sets the 23-year-old apart is his speed. He is incredibly fast and can outpace defenders, making him a threat on the counter-attack. His speed combined with his dribbling skills and creativity makes him a formidable opponent for any defence.

Cunha is also an excellent finisher. He has a powerful shot and can score from a variety of positions. He is not afraid to take on defenders and shoot from distance, which makes him a dangerous player both inside and outside the penalty area.

Predicted Score:

Manchester United 2-0 Wolves

This season, Manchester United have been securing one-goal victories at Old Trafford quite frequently, like the one against Aston VIlla. Despite conceding several goals while playing away, they have been nearly invulnerable in front of their home crowd.

Wolves can be expected to have a drop in performance, considering they have nothing left to play for but pride. However, the visitors’ lack of goalscoring form may mean that they are once again limited to scoring only one goal. Nevertheless, this one goal could be enough to ensure that they remain in control of their own destiny in the Champions League qualification race.
