Manchester United vs Young Boys

Manchester United host BSC Young Boys in their final group stage tie of the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday as the Red Devils look to avenge their first-leg defeat against the Swiss side. Having already hinted at making major changes, Ralf Rangnick is expected to grant opportunities to several youngsters and squad players later this evening.

Heading into the fixture with three undefeated Premier League games, Manchester United will be keen on maintaining their positive run of results against Young Boys. Nemanja Matic has been handed the armband for the fixture, the likes of Anthony Elanga, Amad Diallo, and Jesse Lingard could potentially be included in the starting line-up and Luke Shaw and Aaron Wan-Bissaka, too, might return to their respective positions.

Although the visitors will be needing to secure three points in their quest for Europa League football, United head in as overwhelming favourites for the tie. Having already qualified for the next round of the competition, United’s starting line-up will be keen on delivering and impressing their new manager.

Predicted Lineup for the Manchester United vs Young Boys Game (Formation 4-2-2-2)

After witnessing a radical change in their approach against Crystal Palace, Rangnick is likely to stick with the same blueprint against the Swiss Super League side. Given United’s depth in personnel across several positions, the German will be assessing the potential of his squad players later his evening.

Given the visitors’ need for a victory, United are likely to benefit from their desperation at Old Trafford. Provided the team remains disciplined and executes their roles diligently, the overall performance is likely to culminate into a comprehensive victory, thus, resulting in a great audition for several of United’s squad players going forward.

Goalkeeper

Dean Henderson (GK) – With the manager stating his inclusion in the starting line-up ahead of the fixture, Henderson will be hoping to deliver an impressive performance on Wednesday. Although the Englishman remains the second-choice keeper, Henderson will be looking to avoid any hiccups later his evening.

Defenders

Aaron Wan-Bissaka (RB) – Having seemingly lost his place to Diogo Dalot at right-back, Wan-Bissaka will be keen on marking his return to the line-up with a remarkable performance. Although Wan-Bissaka, undoubtedly, remains the better of the two in defence, he will be keen on showcasing his aggressiveness going forward in the Manchester United vs Young Boys game.

Eric Bailly (RCB) – Amongst those expected to challenge for a first-team spot under Rangnick, Bailly will be hoping to make a lasting impression on Wednesday. The Ivorian heads into the fixture on the back of noteworthy performances in recent ties and will undoubtedly be keen on producing a composed display later this evening.

Victor Lindelof (LCB) – The team’s most impressive centre-back in recent games, Lindelof will be keen on cementing his spot in the starting line-up. With Raphael Varane due to return over the next couple of fixtures, Lindelof will be hoping to produce a well-rounded performance on Wednesday.

Luke Shaw (LB) – Likely to return to the line-up after engaging in contact training, Luke Shaw will be hoping to regain his spot in the first XI. With many concerned over his adaptability under the new manager, Shaw will be keen on silencing his critics, starting tonight.

Midfielders

Nemanja Matic (CDM/CM) – Expected to be the more pragmatic of the team’s midfielders on Wednesday, Matic will be hoping to make a case for his inclusion in the starting line-up. Although the Serbian has found himself out of contention on many occasions this season, he will be keen on impressive the new manager.

Donny Van De Beek (CM) – All eyes are set to be fixated on Van de Beek against Young Boys. With the team lacking options in the midfield, many expect the Dutchman to challenge for a spot in the box-to-box role. Provided he begins in a deeper role against Young Boys, Van De Beek will be keen on showcasing his all-around ability.

Attackers

Amad Diallo (RAM) – Amongst a raft of young prospects awaiting a full game in senior competitions, Amad will be hoping to make the most of his opportunity later this evening. Regarded amongst United’s young crop of players who are capable of challenging for a first-team spot, the gifted winger will be keen on making a lasting impression in front of a packed Old Trafford.

Jesse Lingard (LAM) – Having witnessed a decline in opportunities despite an impactful start to the season, Lingard will be hoping to display a promising performance on Wednesday. Although expected to seek a move in the upcoming transfer window, the Englishman will remain hopeful of challenging for a first-team spot over the coming weeks.
