Wolves In For Manchester United Defender As Jose Mourinho Looks For Fresh Faces At The Back.

Marcos Rojo of United

[spacer height=”20px”]Just weeks after featuring for Argentina at the World Cup in Russia, United defender Marcos Rojo seems to be heading towards the exit door. Reports floating around suggesting Manchester United center back is on the radar of Wolves. After being promoted to the Premier League, Wolves are wasting no time spending some serious money to bolster their squad. They have already secured the signature of Moutinho and Rui Patricio, Wolves are now all set to add defensive options to their squad. [spacer height=”30px”]

[spacer height=”30px”]Marcos Rojo has not been a regular starter for the Manchester United since from Sporting Lisbon. On and off struggles with injury has taken a toll on his playing time at Old Trafford. He just made 9 appearances for the club in top flight last season. Jose Mourinho on the other hand is keen on adding new defender to the squad and is chasing one of Tottenham’s Toby Alderweireld or Leicester City’s Harry Maguire. This could mean offloading Rojo to make way for the new defender.[spacer height=”30px”]

[spacer height=”30px”]Move for the Argentine seems to be valued somewhere around 25 Million. The transfer could make a whole lot of difference as Jose Mourinho has been told by the club to get rid of a few players from the squad to make way for new ones and Rojo seems to be the one to be axed. Marcos Rojo has never lived up to the expectations and it is evident that Jose knows that. At 28 years of age Rojo is at the peak of his career and a move away from United could mean that he could find the playing time he needs to be a top defender which certainly was missing in his 4 years spell with Manchester United.[spacer height=”30px”]

The move could be beneficial for Wolves who needs someone to be strong defensively at the back. Marcos Rojo can be a perfect fit as he is a everything you want in any defender. If he finds his form back at Wolves there is no doubt that Rojo can play week in week out for any club. Not so for Jose though as he seems to be happy selling the player off.[spacer height=”30px”]

Rojo has also dropped from squad for the pre season tour in USA. Reports suggest that Rojo has flown from holidaying in Mexico to Manchester, adding to the speculations of a move away. Moreover the club has also removed the player from team’s branding campaigns which makes his future at the club even more questionable.[spacer height=”30px”]

[spacer height=”30px”]Recently Jose has been under a lot of criticism over his team’s defensive approach and it has certainly started to bother the fans. Team has been performing poorly in their pre season and not a lot is happening for United in the transfer market as well. Rival teams like Man City and Liverpool have been strengthening their squad, and with United’s last title coming in 2012-13 season stakes are very high this time around.[spacer height=”30px”]

This team needs a leader in the defense, a player who keeps the defense together, plays each and every game and is the one, who the line looks up to. City has that player in the form of Kompany and Liverpool has Van Dijk, its time that United find one too. If Marcos Rojo’s departure helps them get one then it could prove to be game changing 2018-19 season.[spacer height=”30px”]
