Ozil

According to reports in England, Mesut Ozil may join Manchester United at the end of next summer.

The 28 year old German footballer Mesut Ozil joined the Gunners in September 2013 for a transfer fee of around £42.5m from Real Madrid.

The attacking midfielder presently dons the number 11 shirt at Arsenal and became the most expensive German footballer of all time after his transfer from Madrid.

[spacer height=”30px”]

His contract ends in the summer of 2018 and still hasn’t signed a contract extension with Arsenal.

[spacer height=”30px”]

Mesut Ozil had previously expressed his desire to remain in London during a pre-season interview but now it seems he has his heart set on a reunion with former boss Jose Mourinho.

[spacer height=”30px”]

As the reports from the Mirror, Mesut Ozil will see off  his contract with the Gunners and will join the Red Devils next summer in a free transfer after his contract expires.

[spacer height=”30px”]

Sunday Mirror Sport reports that Ozils entourage had contacted Manchester United representatives about a potential transfer at the end of next season and are said to have recieved encouraging feedback.

[spacer height=”30px”]

The Portuguese is known to be a long time admirer of the German midfielder. Mourinho was the reason Mesut Ozil moved to the Bernabeu in the first place after the 2010 World Cup.

[spacer height=”30px”]

Mourinho stated after Mesut Ozil’s departure from Madrid:

[spacer height=”30px”]

“Özil is unique. There is no copy of him – not even a bad one. He is the best number 10 in the world.”

[/perfectpullquote]

[spacer height=”30px”]

In Mesut Ozil’s biography, Gunning for Greatness, he credited Mourinho for his confidence to make an impact at Real Madrid.

[spacer height=”30px”]

Mourinho told Mesut Ozil in a bid to convince him to move saying :

[spacer height=”30px”]

[perfectpullquote align=”full” cite=”” link=”” color=”” class=”” size=””]

“Real Madrid isn’t too big a move for you. Real Madrid is the only right move. Trust me. I’ll turn you into a regular player.”

[spacer height=”10px”]

“And then all the doors will be open to you. You’ll be able to show the world what you’re capable of.”

[spacer height=”10px”]

“And, believe me, that’s a huge amount.”

[spacer height=”30px”]

Previously we had reported that there had been no fresh contract talks since the month of February.

[spacer height=”30px”]

And now according to the Mirror, Ozil has had enough of life at the Emirates and is keen to join Manchester United under Jose Mourinho.

[spacer height=”30px”]

The 28 year-old will run his contract down with Arsenal which remains till the end of the 2017/18 season and become a free agent.

[spacer height=”30px”]

This will eventually help United to fulfill the player’s demand for £250,000-a-week salary.

[spacer height=”30px”]

As per the reports from the Mirror, Mesut Ozil’s representatives have already established contacts with United officials and they have replied in an encouraging manner.

[spacer height=”30px”]

Arsene Wenger has always spoken very highly of his attacking midfielder:

[spacer height=”30px”]

[perfectpullquote align=”full” cite=”” link=”” color=”” class=”” size=””]

“If you’re not excited about watching Ozil, you don’t love football.”

[spacer height=”30px”]

If what the report states is indeed true and that Mesut Ozil does have an eye towards a future move to Manchester United that too for free next summer, could you really blame him ?

[spacer height=”30px”]

The typical Arsenal scrapegoat for almost every loose and underwhelming game the team plays. Criticized whole heartedly by fans and pundits alike for his languid body language and off the ball attitude whenever Arsenal simply loose a game.

[spacer height=”30px”]

Basically the easiest thing for the media, fans and pundits to target each and every time due to his apparent lack luster attitude and his playing style.

[spacer height=”30px”]

Moving off to Old trafford gives provides him with a chance to remain in England along with a group of world class players under the tutelage of a manager who has already previously managed to bring out the absolute best from him and will surely benefit a great deal from the rise in expectation and the high standards set by Jose.

[spacer height=”30px”]

Meanwhile Arsenal fans have gone on to react very violently on twitter over reports from Sky Sports of Mesut Ozil joining United at the end of the season somehow suggesting what the general consensus about him is :

[spacer height=”30px”]

[spacer height=”30px”]

Shows what hes missing if he does indeed leave the Emirates !!!
