Mikel Arteta Keen to Sanction Move for £30million Former Manchester United Target as Club Seems Inclined to Sell

Carlos Soler Arsenal Arteta keen move Valencia Midfielder

Arsenal are keen on signing Valencia midfielder Carlos Soler in summer as Arsenal boss looks to shore up his options in the midfield with the addition of the Spanish midfielder.

The 23-year-old Spaniard, who has previously been linked with Manchester United and Real Madrid, had a quality start to the season with Valencia having become a regular in the side, making 27 appearances in all competitions this term.

Carlos Soler who is valued at around £30million by Valencia, is a Valencia youth product having been promoted to the senior team in 2017. With more than 140 club appearances under his belt, the former Spain Under-21 international had been vital for the club in both their domestic fixtures and their Champions league run where they where dumped by Atlanta in the round of 16.

Carlos Soler ranks among the 15 most valuable U-23 midfielders in the world with transfermarkt valuing him at €50 million which is why it makes absolute sense for Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta to be interested in his services. According to Sky reports, Arteta is said to be a keen admirer of the Real Madrid target and has earmarked him as a key acquisition for Arsenal in the summer.

Report states that should the transfer go ahead despite these unforeseen circumstances, Arsenal will look to engage in intensive scouting in Arteta’s homeland and one of the players to be scrutinised and acted upon will be Carlos Soler.

What makes this particular deal so interesting is that despite Carlos Soler signing a contract extension last summer, which would tie him up til 2023, Spanish club Valencia are under an obligation to offload £36million worth of talent by June 30 in order to balance their books. Something that the English clubs like Manchester United, Manchester City or Chelsea with look to capitalise on given that there is an outstanding debt of €529m at the Mestalla.

For the third year running, this seems to be case as previous deals for Joao Cancelo to Juventus in 2018 and goalkeeper Neto to Barcelona in 2019, all seemed to have been made with this intent. And while Carlos Soler sale might just do the deed, there are other players in the mix as well that Valencia might have to consider offloading like Barcelona target Rodrigo Moreno or Manchester United and Chelsea target Jose Luis Gaya.

Be that as it may, another serious decision that FIFA in tandem with the clubs will have to take is when to open the transfer window, given that players risk the chance of running out of club contracts before the season concludes or even resumes for that matter as situation continues to worsen in Europe. Sky sports reports that as a result FIFA is reviewing the opening and closing dates for the transfer window to deal with this issue in particular.
