Sven Mislintat Building Arsenal’s Future As We Take A Look At His Impact On Arsenal’s Transfer Business

Sven Mislintat is arguably the most important person behind the scenes for Arsenal right now. Arsenal are undoubtedly going through the biggest change in their recent history with Arsene Wenger stepping down as the manager after 22 years with the club. They also replaced Steve Rowley, club’s chief scout who left after 25 years with the club.

Mislintat was appointed as Arsenal’s chief scout in November 2017 and has been substantive ever since signing talents like Guendouzi, Mavropanos. Guendouzi has been one of the bargains of the summer and is an example of what he brings to the table. In Guendouzi and Lucas Torriera he has secured Arsenal’s future in the midfield.

Mislintat brought in one of the most sought-after forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from his previous club. This is the second time he as signed Aubameyang after bringing him to Borrusia Dortmund from Ligue 1. Mislintat also brought in Sokratis Papastathopoulos from Dortmund to strengthen Arsenal’s defence.

Mislintat recently attended the International Football Summit and spoke about how Premier League is different from other leagues in the world and what makes it so exciting,

The Premier League offers a portfolio: a mix of all, maybe the best, different styles of play that have been successful in their [the coaches’] own countries,”

said Mislintat, at The International Football Summit.

Arsenal have never been one to splash out cash on a superstar and won’t change this policy anytime soon which will partcularly work with him as he is known to scout players which are not much hyped in the transfer window but are turn out to be really good.Mislintat, also known as ‘The Diamond Eye’ is so called for his knack to spot talent at a very young age. From his top signings it’s clear that he is suitable for the task of rebuilding Arsenal, by not making any big money signings rather acquiring young talents from his connections in Germany and Greece and this can work in a great way with the Gunners.

Sven Mislintat has had a number of great signings since he took over as a chief scout for Dortmund since 2009. Here are some of those signings made by Dortmund scouted by the Diamond Eye.

ROBERT LEWANDOWSKI

One of the best goal scorers of this generation signed for Dortmund for a mere €4.5 million and helped them win back to back Bundesliga titles. Mislintat signed him from a relatively unknown Polish side Lech Poznan in 2010 he quickly transformed into the most lethal striker in the Bundesliga.

PIERRE-EMERICK AUBAMEYANG

Replacing Lewandowski’s 103 goals in 183 appearances was not going to be an easy task, but bringing in Aubameyang helped them win DFB-pokal and DFL -Supercup. Mislintat signed him again and he has scored an incredible 11 goals in just 17 appearances for Arsenal. The 29-year old Gabonese International along with Lacazette forms one of the most lethal duo in the Premier League.

OUSMANE DEMBELE

Dembele was scouted by Mislintat when he was making a name for himself in the Ligue1 and joined Dortmund aged just 19. He helped them win a DFB-pokal putting in great number of dribbles before he was snatched over by Barcelona. This summer there was talk about him joining Arsenal after various injuries and Barca’s signing of Malcolm but he confirmed his intentions to stay at Barcelona.

Though most of his signings have been really good, Mislintat still needs to look around more in Europe rather than just the Bundesliga to improve Arsenal’s shaky defence. Sokratis has definitely improved the defence from the last season but the centre-back is not a signing for the future.

Unai Emery and Sven Mislintat need nothing but the backing of the Board and the fans alike and with the Adidas Deal rumours which is close to 300 million pounds worth will only act as a significant boost to both of them as the Gunners will have restrictions on themselves for the next season in the transfer business.
