Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho provided a worrying update as far as fans are concerned last week when he accepted in front of the media that he was not confident of goalkeeper David De Gea putting pen to paper on a new deal.

It seems Manchester United may be preparing for the worst season with reports suggesting a possible replacement for De Gea has been identified by their goalkeeping scout. De Gea is out of contract at the end of the season, although United do have the option to extend his deal for a further year.
Mourinho recently revealed, he was “not confident” but “not worried” about the prospect of the Spaniard prolonging his stay.
The 27-year-old shot-stopper is widely considered to be the best keeper in the English Football and has been United’s undoubted talisman during last 5 years. He has won Player of the Year four times which speaks of his caliber and how busy he has been under the bar.
I'd like to see Manchester United do everything within their power to keep David de Gea, but likewise, he deserves to genuinely be challenging for the very top honours. Has done more than enough for the club. Would be gutted but no one should hold it against him if he does leave.

De Gea’s superhuman reflexes and agility has bailed out the Red Devils on countless occasions, as the team has struggled to challenge for major European trophies over the past five years under the likes of David Moyes, Louis Van Gaal and now Jose Mourinho.
The Spanish goalkeeper told Sky Sports, which clearly tells us about his state of mind at the moment:
“What matters is the team and all of us being focused on what we need to focus on, which is winning games, rather than contracts or any topics that can be a distraction.”
“You have to be focused on what’s important,”
“What matters is the team and all of us being focused on what we need to focus on, which is winning games, rather than contracts or any topics that can be a distraction. What matters is focusing on football.”
“You don’t have time to think about things that aren’t as important as football and the points that are at stake in the games that we have to win and do well in.”

There is absolutely no doubt that with a better team, De Gea would have a trophy cabinet full of major honors and achievements. As years are passing by, he is being more tempted than ever to move on in a pursuit of that kind of success which is getting all the more irresistible for him.
Real Madrid have been long-term admirers of the Spaniard. However, Los Blancos signed Thibaut Courtois in the summer out of surprise to many which may now rule out his move to the Spanish capital. Juventus are another club being linked with De Gea’s move after adding the arguably best player in the planet, Cristiano Ronaldo this summer.
