Stoke City ended the perfect start to the season for Jose Mourinho and his lads after Saturday’s match ended in a 2-2 tie at the Bet365 stadium.

Manchester United were finally stalled by the Potters after the Reds made a hundred percent winning start to the season by grabbing full nine points from three matches.

Stoke City stopped a jubilant United side who rode on three wins. Mourinho and his boys managed to get a point from the match and reclaim the top spot on the Premier League table.

Though it may be disappointing to get a draw, it was encouraging to see Mourinho and his boys acquire a point after coming from behind.

[spacer height=”30px”]

Manchester United are currently ahead of their city rivals only on goal difference who won against 10-men Liverpool by a scoreline of 5-0.

At the end of the match, Stoke City boss Mark Hughes was rebuffed by Jose Mourinho when he went to shake hands with his counterpart.

[spacer height=”30px”]

But Hughes shrugged this off and told:

[spacer height=”20px”]

[perfectpullquote align=”full” cite=”” link=”” color=”” class=”” size=””]

“I’m not quite sure what happened”

[spacer height=”10px”]

“I seem to get involved in handshake issues. It’s not the first time, it won’t be the last.”

[spacer height=”10px”]

“I offered my hand but Jose didn’t want to take it. Maybe he was upset about the result. The top managers don’t like it when they get the bad results. I have to get used to it sometimes.”

Read what Mourinho and his lads had to say on the draw against Stoke City in the post match interviews, according to Manutd.com

[spacer height=”30px”]

Mourinho seemed unhappy with the result but he said that the result was acceptable.

[spacer height=”20px”]

According to Mourinho, his players seemed different after the international break. The chemistry between the players looked disrupted.

[spacer height=”20px”]

But the Portuguese was impressed by Romelu Lukaku’s performance.

[spacer height=”30px”]

Mourinho stated:

[spacer height=”20px”]

[perfectpullquote align=”full” cite=”” link=”” color=”” class=”” size=””]

“Stoke are a difficult opponent to play. The characteristics of the stadium always makes it hard here. Could we win? Of course we could. We made a big mistake with the second goal and we missed a couple of chances but it is a result that I accept.”

[spacer height=”30px”]

Matteo Darmian told:

[spacer height=”20px”]

[perfectpullquote align=”full” cite=”” link=”” color=”” class=”” size=””]

“Of course one point was not what we wanted at the beginning of the game but we tried in the end to win. It was a tough game against a good team like Stoke. I think at the moment David [De Gea] is the best goalkeeper in the world. It was a great save [from Jese], but after that we conceded the goal. We have to continue because we have to improve and work if we want to stay at the top of the league.”

[spacer height=”30px”]

Nemanja Matic told:

[spacer height=”20px”]

[perfectpullquote align=”full” cite=”” link=”” color=”” class=”” size=””]

“Of course we come here to try to take all three points but we have to be satisfied because on this pitch in this stadium it’s always hard. They’re a good team physically and strong but the few chances that we had, we should win but this is football and next time we have to be more concentrated in attack and also in defence to not allow them to create chances to score goals. If we want to be champions, we have to win games like this.”

[spacer height=”30px”]

After Saturday’s match, Jose Mourinho and his boys look forward to the Champions League fixture against Basel on Wednesday.

[spacer height=”30px”]

Best of luck to the boys for a successful match and I hope they win at home, at their fort.
