Manchester United Players Break Their Silence On The Sacking Of Jose Mourinho In “Different” Ways

Mourinho at Man Utd, Mourinho

The position of Jose Mourinho as the Manchester United boss had been under severe scrutiny throughout the course of the first half of the season. United’s loss to Liverpool, however, became the final match for the Portuguese as a manager. Fans took to social media to urge the club’s management to sack Jose Mourinho following United’s defeat at Anfield.

The Red Devils posted a tweet announcing that a caretaker manager has been named in the form of a former club legend Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. Solskjaer will manage the club for the rest of the season. Solskjaer will be accompanied by Mike Phelan as the first-team coach with Michael Carrick and Kieran McKenna resuming their duties.

Jesse Lingard posted on his Instagram ‘thanking the boss’ along with Eric Bailly, Diogo Dalot and Angel Gomes, all posted on social media showing gratitude for the former United manager Jose Mourinho. Lingard was a regular under the Portuguese coach and also scored some crucial goals for thee club during his tenure.

Eric Bailly, who was signed from Villareal in 2016 did well in his first season at the club and won the fans’ support but failed to impress Jose Mourinho in the latter seasons and as a result was dropped to the bench in some games.

Diogo Dalot, signed by Manchester United this summer transfer window also thanked Jose Mourinho. Dalot made his full debut under him against Arsenal in the Premier League. Surprisingly only four players from the entire club did let their emotions be known to the public.

Since Mourinho’s departure, reports have claimed that Paul Pogba was in celebration mood and high-fived his team-mates in the dressing room on learning the news about the sack of Jose Mourinho ; seems as though  Christmas came early for some players. Pogba has not been a regular starting player under Jose Mourinho this season and was also benched in the match against Liverpool.  There is also a rumour about  Pogba shouting ‘He f**ked with the wrong baller’; letting everybody know his euphoria on the depart of the club and the manager.

The report continues by saying that after sacking of Jose Mourinho, Michael Carrick, who had been taking training ahead of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s arrival at the club as caretaker boss, told Pogba to stop his celebrations and insisted to the players that no player will be bigger than the club. A noteworthy fact is that the appointment of Solskjaer is temporary.

Ed Woodward, along with the other United chiefs will be out scouting for a permanent replacement expected to be announced at the end of the season.
