Lukaku Exhaustion, Way Forward For Sanchez And Other Incredible Takeaways From Manchester United’s Win Over Newcastle

Newcastle United,Arsedevils

Manchester United came from 2 goals down to beat Newcastle United 3-2 on Saturday to relieve some pressure off Jose Mourinho and also manage their first win since 19th September.

It was Newcastle United who took command of the game early on over a lost Manchester United side who conceded 2 goals in just nine minutes by the hands of Muto and Kennedy. A solid display from the hosts before the stroke of half time left Manchester United with quite some work to do to change things around and it was the substitutes who made their mark on the game.

Juan Mata curled home a beautiful free kick in the 70th minute to breathe life back into Old Trafford and not long after Anthony Martial drew scores level with a brilliantly executed right footed shot after a one-two exchange with Paul Pogba. At 2-2 a well in command Manchester United left it late on for former Arsenal man Alexis Sanchez to complete the comeback in the 90th minute to seal a much needed win against Newcastle United.

Here are three things we learned from the ultimate comeback against Newcastle United :

1. Lukaku Needs To Be Given Rest To Bring The Best Out Of Him

Being Manchester United’s leading goal scorer and marksman, it was a game for Rom to forget as he failed to make an impact against a winless Newcastle United side. It is evident that The Red Devils be it the Devils of Manchester or Belgium, both rely heavily on the 25 year old.

Lukaku was even involved for a full 90 minutes even in the Carabao Cup, a game where you usually rest your key players. With Marcus Rashford back from suspension it might finally be time for him to be given an opportunity to play upfront ahead of a busy schedule.

2. Newcastle United Early Relegation Contenders?

Newcastle United were just 45 minutes away from their first Premier League win of the season but they chose to sit back and ended up conceding 3 goals in the second half to go second bottom of the table with just 2 points from 8 games. They haven’t particularly been playing bad which was evident from their confident first half display where they could have been 3 up easily at half time. Rafa Benitez will surely be hoping for a change in fortunes.

3. A kickstart to season for Alexis Sanchez and Jose Mourinho?

Finally at long last Alexis Sanchez turned up for the occasion and inspired a late comeback to score in the 90th minute to seal the win vs Newcastle United. He met Ashley Young’s cross to head past Martin Dubravka who could do nothing but watch. It was an eventful day for the Chilean and the fans indeed who have been desperate to see him get back to his best.

With his first of the season and an impactful one he will be hoping to re-ignite his and our season and bring spark in that midfield. While defensive woes still remain at the back, there is still a semblance of hope that The Red Devils can turn things around in their favor under Jose Mourinho.
