According to latest reports, Newcastle United are monitoring Arsenal defender Kieran Tierney and could make a move in the summer transfer window. The Magpies seek to bolster their defence with a new left-back who can slot in directly into the starting lineup.
Tierney was a regular starter for Mikel Arteta’s side last season but missed the last three months of the campaign due to a knee surgery. Now, with Oleksandr Zinchenko coming in last summer, the Scottish left-back seem to have fallen behind in the pecking order.
Although the 25-year-old has managed to make 17 Premier League appearances this campaign, most of them were as substitutes, having featured only four times in the starting XI. Nevertheless, he has played a full 90 minute match just five times in the 2022-23 season.
According to Football Insider, Newcastle United are plotting a summer move for Arsenal full-back Kieran Tierney. The Magpies manager Eddie Howe and the coaching staff holds the Scottish defender in high regard because of his versatility and experience.
Moreover, the Tyneside team are determined to challenge for trophies next season and are in pursuit of players who can make an immediate impact on the pitch. Meanwhile, Kieran Tierney would be inclined to joining Newcastle United for regular first-team football, having being forced into a back up role at the Emirates, as reported by Mirror.
