Ole Gunnar Solskjaer Should Definitely Become The Next Permanent United Manager If He Can Pull off This Transfer Double

Probably the two most divisive players in United’s recent history are rumoured to be headed for the exit. Marcos Rojo and Marouane Fellaini are both reportedly on the market, as the interim manager looks to begin a defensive restructuring – begging to happen since the reign of Louis van Gaal.

According to the reports in The Telegraph, Fellaini is actively attracting interest from AC Milan, China and FC Porto and United and Ole are ready to let him go for a paltry fee of $15M.

Fellaini has been one of the most controversial signings, since arriving at the club from Everton. Rescuing last minute winners and equalisers, and being red carded on his 100th appearance in a crucial game – the man has proved his worth, and the inconsistency which comes along with it.

Mourinho’s go-to man for game changing moments now seems to have fallen out of favour under the new manager and might be offloaded along with Marcus Rojo, first choice centre back for Argentina and fourth choice at United.

Even though the impact Fellaini made can not be undermined, it would be fair to say that he is more baggy elbows than quick feet and would probably not make it into any manager’s squad apart from Mourinho. Used in moments of desperation as a measure of last resort in goal droughts under Mourinho, now that United are back among the goals, his utility to the squad is very clear under Ole – none.

Rojo, on the other hand, is somewhat easily let off. Prone to rash decisions, and having shown promise sparingly, it is easy to see why, according to the Telegraph, there is much jubilation among United fans upon the surface of the news. With the other centre half choices being the funny face Jones, average Smalling and the rather rash Bailly, the need for a solid and professional, if not exceptional, centre back, is more pressing now than ever.

This double transfer, I believe, is the first step to rejuvenating the club to the previous heights the club and its fans are used to. This is Ole reversing decisions of the previous managers, who have left Manchester United as the team we know it now.

Both these transfers scream “Manchester United Is Not Average”. With the addition of a solid, experienced center back, Koulibaly or Alderweireld preferably, and another attacking midfielder in the place of these two, the defensive restructuring rumoured to be up and about will be complete. With that, we can finally look forward to challenging for the title next season and slowly but surely, giving the big guns in Europe something to think about.

And even though it is too soon to be considering Ole Gunnar Soljskaer for the full time position at the helm, it is undeniable that he is doing everyone involved a favour if this double whammy goes through.

United since 2011, i love playing too. i'm from Mumbai. i dabble in music and stuff.
