Here are the Manchester United player ratings from their win against Omonia F.C. in the third group stage match of this year’s UEFA Europa League campaign.
An encouraging performance saw United register a hard-fought 2-3 victory over Omonia on Thursday. Despite a challenging battle against Omonia, the Red Devils have managed to bounce back to winning ways following a disappointing result in the league against Manchester City last weekend.
Erik Ten Hag’s side will now be looking to build momentum as they head into a demanding slew of fixtures over the coming weeks.
A dominant start to the game saw the Red Devils create numerous goal-scoring opportunities before the break. However, having struggled to take their chances, a lapse in concentration saw the visitors concede the first goal of the evening – this is despite the home side having resorted to a counter-attacking approach on Thursday.
A goal down heading into a break, Ten Hag’s substitutions catalyzed the team’s approach throughout the second half as the Red Devils ensured they remained dominant in possession until the final whistle.
Two goals from substitute Marcus Rashford and a goal from Anthony Martial saw the Red Devils take a 3-1 lead, following which a quick answer from Omonia saw them reduce the deficit to only one goal heading into the final five minutes of normal time.
However, despite attempting their best to register a comeback, a tenacious end to the game by the visitors ensured they maintained their marginal lead at the full-time whistle, with the hosts, inarguably, testing the Red Devils on the pitch on Thursday.
