What is it with Mesut Ozil ?
The German playmaker who was banished to the fringe of the Arsenal squad for his verbal attack on Unai Emery after being substituted in the Europa league final 2018 against Chelsea.
His “ You are not a coach” comment saw him relegated to the bench or left out of the squad completely and there looked to be no way back for one of the most gifted midfielders of his generation.
Ozil has however, wasted his God given talent to some degree by not training or performing poorly when given the opportunity.
A few years ago, he made Arsenal tick by giving them moments of undeniable quality. These days he looks like a sad, faded. peripheral figure going through the motions, with a pay grade bigger than his talent. Moreover major bookmakers like Casinohawks.com are predicting a probably January exit for the German playmaker with Fenerbache being touted as the likeliest destination.
Ozil then decides to cause another hubbub for his criticism of China’s treatment of ethnic Uighur Muslims. Ozil’s twitter account asserted that Uighurs were “warriors who resist persecution”
This was mildly embarrassing for the club who quickly distanced themselves from the social media declaration and as a result Arsenal’s game against Manchester City was pulled from China’s state channel.

This has alienated a number of the board but Ozil was quick to cause himself more problems after he was hooked by interim manager Freddie Ljundberg during the resounding defeat to Manchester City.
With disappointment and anger etched on his face, he lumbered off the pitch in ‘Xhaka style’ in a slow, slightly selfish and ponderous way which drew boos from the home crowd.
He then peeled off a glove a kicked it into the air as he brushed past Freddie Ljundberg to his familiar position on the bench.

Ljundberg paid no attention but a majority of the fans were fairly upset by his antics for the second time in a matter of weeks. After the Brighton disaster, Ozil was seen calling out angrily to Lacazette as he left the pitch and this, coupled with his less than dazzling contributions have made it clear that the clock is ticking down on his Arsenal career in terms of contract and patience.
Ozil’s performance compared to that of Kevin De Bruyne was wishy washy at best and lacked the incisive and creative potency of the Belgium play maker and this lead to his substitution.
Dion Dublin thought that substitution was completely justified.
“I don’t get what he’s expecting,”
Dublin added
“If you don’t run around and you don’t contribute to your side at home, in the No 10 shirt, for Arsenal, and you’re getting paid whatever you’re getting paid, and you do this, you throw your gloves up in the air and kick them, I don’t know.
“Have you got to stay on because you’re not contributing?
Ozil seems to be in the middle of his own personal crisis and never seems far away from another drama.
Yet this time it may have exhausted any remaining goodwill at the Emirates and it could see him leave before his contract ends in 2021.
