Emery Reveals The Truth Behind Claims About Him Forcing Mesut Ozil out of Arsenal

Ozil, Arsedevils

Arsenal boss Unai Emery has attempted to quash claims that he is eager to get rid of Mesut Ozil as soon as possible.

Ozil looks increasingly likely to leave Arsenal come the end of the season, having fallen out of favour under Emery. Reports have already surfaced about the potential of him even leaving the club this month.  Clubs such as Atletico Madrid and AC Milan and have shown a genuine interest in securing the attacking midfielder’s signature.

There is clearly some friction between Emery and Ozil, with the former being rather unimpressed by the German. This was further displayed in Arsenal’s 1-0 defeat to West Ham. The 30-year-old is injury free and ready to play. However, Emery decided to completely, and quite questionably, drop him from the squad entirely. Judging by the result, it would be fair to say that he might have lived to regret that decision.

With all the rumors about his future floating around, Emery attempted to address the situation when speaking to the media. He refused to be drawn to the idea that he was eager to get rid of Ozil. Instead, he stated that the midfielder could start just his third game since the 11th of November.

“I’m not thinking about that,” he said. “I’m thinking about how he can help us this year with good performances. He’s had injuries and not been okay to play matches, but now after these two weeks maybe this Saturday will be okay for him.
“I like to create the same spirit for all, and that spirit is every players gets and gives consistent work and moments with their performances but it’s not easy.
“Sometimes you are better and sometimes you are worse. I’m working with every player in the same way. The most important thing for me is how he can help us and how every player can help us with their consistency.”
