MASSIVE BLOW | Attacking Duo Set to Leave the Gunners in the Summer Transfer Window

Danny Welbeck, Mesut Ozil

Arsenal could be dealt with a major double blow in the upcoming summer. Mesut Ozil and Danny Welbeck may consider a move away from the Emirates at the end of the season.

The Gunners boss has already stamped his authority over the squad. He will look to continue his authoritative reign although, it may involve two high-profile players exiting Arsenal.

The ex-PSG manager’s arrival last summer infused life into a dull Arsenal squad. They went on a 22 match unbeaten streak and were in great form but injuries have marred their progress.

After making several signings since his arrival, Emery has tried to mold the squad into playing his counter attacking football. A limited January transfer window alongside a injury laden depleted squad has further added to the Spanish manager’s problems. The next summer would be pivotal for Emery to continue his squad revamp.

Danny Welbeck had been ruled out for 9 months after his serious injury and his contract is set to expire at the end of the season. Mesut Ozil has been literally snubbed from Unai’s plans. With Welbeck in the injury list and Ozil struggling to gain foothold in the starting XI, it seems as if the duo might consider exit plans.

If Arsenal look to compete on all fronts for both domestic and European glory, they need to have a great squad depth. Danny Welbeck has failed to perform consistently for the Gunners and has disappointed in providing quality depth as a forward. Given his abysmal record for injuries, Arsenal should be more than willing to let him leave.

Meanwhile, the German play maker has struggled with injuries this season and has been largely out of favor. His incompetency in securing a position in the starting XI casts doubts over his future at London.

Emery has chosen to exclude him in the recent high-octane clashes with Manchester City and Chelsea. This definitely proves that the boss has lost faith in the attacking midfielder and is exploring his options.

Limited playing opportunities and injuries may force the talented duo to abandon the North London club. Although, it will affect the club’s squad depth it will also decreases the club’s wage bill if the two players opt to leave.

With a stringent budget granted by the board, Unai would take help from the wage bill reduction in luring players for his new squad.
