Emery hasn’t chosen Mesut Ozil for the premier league this season and the mystery surrounding the German playmaker continues.
Reports coming out of Turkey claim Mesut Ozil is definitely staying at Arsenal. His agent Dr Erkut Sogut has said the German playmaker will not be leaving north London this summer. Thoughts? pic.twitter.com/h9rewrhxD2

Illness, stress and fitness are regular lines from the Ozil book of absences but at least the disappearances are becoming more creative with the introduction of a European gang war. It’s all very Bourne identity.
The arrival of Dani Cabellos hasn’t helped his claim and the emergence of Joe Willock has also significantly decreased the chances of an appearance in an Arsenal shirt.
There were rumours that Ozil’s representatives were in talks with MLS club DC United, one assumes this was mainly due to the departure of Wayne Rooney, who apparently failed to settle in the states. This had bookies globally including top online casinos new zealand slashing odds on his departure from Arsenal.
Then rumours persisted of a possible escape route via Turkish football but that seemed to be a case of ambition over income. Ozil seems unwilling to compromise on his wage, even if it means a fresh start with a manager who rates his fluctuating talent.
If Mesut Ozil is withdrawn from the Arsenal squad to play Spurs in the North London Derby at the weekend, then it suggests two things.
The first is that negotiations are still ongoing and Arsenal are trying to exhaust all possibilities rather than become stuck with a player they no longer want.
They may even pay a percentage of his wage in the event of a loan, the same as Manchester United deal with Inter Milan for Alexis Sanchez, which will see them subsidise the Chilean to the tune of £300k a week, leaving him as the second highest paid United player who doesn’t even play for the club.
“He’s a terrific player to watch but when we get caught out defensively his enthusiasm to get back is questioned. That’s why perhaps we need to get him on the ball more in attacking areas”

The second possibility is that if Arsenal fail to secure a move, they will hold on until the January transfer window, only using Ozil in extreme circumstances in an attempt to frustrate and freeze him out.
Every other strategy has been used so far with Ozil and on the subject of a possible escape route, his agent Dr Erkut Sogut, recently and categorically announced that the midfielder would not be leaving Arsenal.

As we have seen with Sanchez, late deals can be done but if nothing is achieved by Friday, presume that Ozil will at least survive until January and that his appearances will be as rare as trophies in the Spurs trophy cabinet.
If Arsenal can offload Ozil, even if it’s on loan, they will hope to save at least half of the £350,000 weekly wage but desperation may mean that they will even accept less to end the matter.
If they are looking for a sizeable return on their £42.5m investment, that figure would be halved by his inconsistency, lack of fitness and form but one senses that Ozil has become the problem that hangs over Emery and one which has created impossible tensions since the disaster in Baku and his alleged comment to Emery that he was “ not a coach !”

I’ll personally be relieved for both parties when it’s over with Arsenal and Ozil going their separate ways. Arsenal host their arch rivals Tottenham Hotspurs at The Emirates on Sunday Night in Premier League.
