Three Manchester United Players Who Have Completely Turned Around Their United Careers Under Solskjaer

United, Solskjaer, Steven Bergwijn

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer became the first Manchester United manager to win his first six league games in charge as his side held on to beat Brighton. It was United’s seventh straight win since the Norwegian took over at Old Trafford on an interim basis a month ago and they are now just three points off fourth-placed Chelsea.

Solskjaer, who has improved Man Utd a lot after a disappointing start under Mourinho, has certainly managed to bring out the best from certain players in the squad who were previously struggling to even feature in the team sheet. Here, we take a look at three players who have again started to play at the level they were expected to, at the start of the 18-19 campaign.

1.  Paul Pogba

Since the arrival of Solskjaer, Pogba has again started to dazzle on the field. Pogba, who under Mourinho, had to play deep due to the ultra-defensive tactics of Mourinho, is now able to enjoy a much more free role.

Solskjaer has allowed him to make runs with the ball, go for take-ons and is more inclined to building the team around the Frenchmen. Pogba had to play in a 4-3-2-1 formation but now he can play in his preferred Left side of the midfield trio alongside Matic and Herrera. Since the revival, he is now involved in 9 goals scoring 5 and assisting 4 for Solskjaer.

And as a result Pogba, has nothing but praise for Solskjaer and really understands his new manager and his game plan really well.

2. Victor Lindelof

Every player at United has seemingly improved under Solskjaer and one of the most notable amongst them is Victor Lindelof who had previously found it very difficult to cope with the physical aspects of the Premier League at the start of the season and his ball-playing skills which were his specialities, were nowhere to be seen.

But under Solskjaer, he now has apparently come back to life. Especially for a team who has conceded just 4 goals in the last 7 games, credit should be going towards the defenders and Lindelof, deserves most of that.

3. Marcus Rashford

While United have still been unable to replace Cristiano Ronaldo since his departure, Rashford is the closest who could prove to be the perfect replacement in future that we can think of. Previously Mourinho often used Rashford out wide for United, but the England international has shone as a central striker following the Portuguese’s sacking in December. Since his arrival Solskjaer has benched Lukaku and used Rashford as the main number 9 for his team by building his entire game plan based on his strengths.

In seven matches under Solskjaer, the forward has already bettered that goal tally with five than that under Mourinho. While he has provided just one assist, his record is still much improved at a goal or assist every 88.66 minutes.
