World Cup Winning Midfielder Paul Pogba Reportedly Agrees A Pact With United Only Because Of This Reason

Manchester United star Paul Pogba will reportedly not seek a January exit from the club after holding talks with boss Jose Mourinho. The French international reportedly pushed for a move in the summer but has called a truce with Mourinho. According to the Mirror, Barcelona was the midfielder’s preferred destination this summer and there were also strong links with former club Juventus.

While a reunion with the Italian giants seems unlikely, a switch to Barcelona could well be on the cards. Pogba is almost certain to push for a move next summer but he understands that United will not sell in mid season and will therefore not push for a move in January and instead wait till the summer.

Talking to the Reporters after Europe Nations League Match against Germany which resulted in a draw,Pogba said,

“I’m trying to work on myself physically. I got back late [from the World Cup], so I’m trying to perform as well as possible.”

“I’m just trying to do my job and for the rest there’ll always be talk.”

Asked about his relationship with Jose Mourinho,he said.

We have a pure coach-player relationship, that’s right.”

“One thing I can assure you, I will always give 100% – no matter which coach I always give everything for United. I cannot say more.”

The Red Devils have started the season in poor form, winning just two of their first four Premier League fixtures and Pogba has been criticized very heavily for his performances and has been highlighted as one of the main reasons behind their bad start. His highly inconsistent performance has given his critics a load of material to work with nut despite this, he still easily ranks among United’s top players, so the club will battle hard to keep hold of him this season.

The arrangement that Pogba and United have come up with is being referred to as the ‘one more season pact’ and is being compared to the agreement between Sir Alex Ferguson and Cristiano Ronaldo in 2009. Ferguson eventually allowed Cristiano to sign for Real Madrid the following for a then world record fee of 80 million pounds.

Similarly, Paul Pogba is expected to do the same and make a fresh bid to leave in the summer. Manchester United will hope that their star man can find inspiration to stay and will look to do anything to keep the midfielder.

The truth is that Pogba has not been anywhere near the standards he set at Juventus and has not proved his worth yet. He has been highly inconsistent since joining United which could be partly blamed at Mourinho also for his inadequate use of the Frenchman but a World class midfielder like Pogba should be able to play in any position as and when required for the benefit of the team.

If Pogba is willing to stay then he should stay but if he is not keen on staying at one of the biggest clubs in the world then United should just let him go since there is no point keeping a player if he wants to leave.  No player is bigger than the club but let’s see what happens as the season goes on.
