What Ramsey’s Contract Situation Exactly Means For Arsenal

CSKA Moscow, Arsenal, Arsedevils, Arsenal Vs CSKA Mosecow, Ramsey

Ever since the emphatic 2013/14 season, Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey has become somewhat of a cult hero – from ending the club’s eight year trophy drought, to managing to become one of the few stand-out players last season despite a rough term.[spacer height=”30px”]

However, football is much more than about the beautiful game in the modern age and  involves meticulous planning for the future. And it seems like the Welshman is on an indecisive path.[spacer height=”30px”]

Ramsey has just over a year left on his contract, a rather meagre period in footballing terms, and has yet to pen a new deal at the Emirates.[spacer height=”30px”]

The 27-year-old has been instrumental in an ever-improving midfield pivot, scoring 11 goals and assisting 9 in as recently as the last campaign. Moreover, the Welsh international also broke former-teammate Cesc Fabregas’ record of being the club’s all-time highest scoring midfielder with 59 goals so far. Additionally, with 57 assists to his name during his time in North London, the former Cardiff man isn’t someone to be taken lightly.[spacer height=”30px”]

Furthermore, the midfield maestro is also a remarkable dribbler and ball-carrier who can make changes in midfield on his own. And alongside the skilful Mesut Ozil and Granit Xhaka, a very underrated deep-lying playmaker, the central-midfielder made it clear over the course of last season that he deserves to be mentioned among the best.[spacer height=”30px”]

Needless to say, Ramsey is someone the Gunners would want to keep at all costs, as made evident by the comments of new boss Unai Emery. Arsene Wenger’s successor has openly expressed his desire to work with Ramsey and stated he will be pivotal for the team’s future.[spacer height=”30px”]

Unfortunately, the last concrete news of Ramsey’s potential contract extension was in late-June when BBC’s famed David Ornstien reported positive talks are ongoing.[spacer height=”30px”]

[spacer height=”30px”]And ever since that day, talks of progress in negotiation died down, striking fear in the hearts of the Emirates faithful.[spacer height=”30px”]

Situations at the Colney aren’t helped by the fact that fan-favourites Santi Cazorla and Jack Wilshere are no longer a part of the ‘red army’ to act as an effective substitute should Ramsey decide to depart London in search of a new challenge.[spacer height=”30px”]

The Spanish midfielder suffered, what seemed like a minor injury back then, a horrific aggravation of conditions after taking a knock during the game against Ludogorets in the Champions League during the 2016/17 campaign, and has returned to full fitness recently, only to move back to his former club, Villareal. [spacer height=”30px”]

Wilshere on the other hand, was not guaranteed a starting role at the Emirates by boss Emery and decided to part ways with the club after decades of loyal service, in order to regain his position back in the England squad.[spacer height=”30px”]

SKY SPORTS Reveals Arsenal are close to agreeing new terms with Aaron Ramsey but there is a huge twist

[spacer height=”50px”]And though the addition of Lucas Torreira seems to be promising, the Welshmen’s departure could send the London giants back to a crisis in midfield. Especially when the former Sevilla manager boasts a golden three-man midfield line-up consisting of Ramsey, Xhaka and Torreira, in whom he has a box-to-box midfielder, a deep-lying playmaker and a promising defensive midfielder. The Spaniard should have the reliable midfielder’s future on top of his priority list.[spacer height=”30px”]

[spacer height=”30px”]Nevertheless, the London outfit remain hopeful to not lose yet another important player as Daily Star report that the ex-Nottingham Forest man has been offered a 5-year deal, which includes a lucrative wage plan as the London Reds do not plan on stretching the saga out to what was the situation of Alexis Sanchez just months ago.[spacer height=”30px”]

The report also suggests that the club has no intention of letting Ramsey go for free and will ultimately look to cash-in on him if an agreement cannot be reached.[spacer height=”30px”]

[spacer height=”30px”]In the case of Arsenal, one can never be sure what lies ahead, but in the era of a new manager, the trend of losing big players surely has to die.[spacer height=”50px”]

  1. Get rid of him. Highly overrated, injury prone, plays for himself, not the team.Sell him, welbeck, Mustafi Cech Iwobi and bring in 2 more top quality players.Keep Perez, scored and makes goals. Good touch and aggressive. Ransey thinjs hes better thsn he is, lucjy goal in Europs league didn,t even see where the goalie was. Poor touch, can,t dribble, can’t tackle, can’t head a ball.
