Rashford’s Killing Form Under ten Hag, Can This Be His Best Season?

Marcus Rashford, Erik ten Hag, Atletico Madrid, Manchester United, new contract

Manchester United are looking a lot better at the start of 2023. The team put on a string of good performances and results. They are still playing in four competitions, Premier League, both domestic cups, and in Europa League. Currently, the team is ranked 4th in the league and if they continue to play like this they will play in the Champions League next season. The creative power of Bruno and Eriksen is helpful, but the team’s main strength is Marcus Rashford. The team’s top striker is playing the best football in his life.

Rashford Performances Since Ronaldo Left

After England’s elimination from the World Cup, Rashford came back to his club duties. There was a lot of media attention around the United since the CR7 departure. There was a lot of speculation about incoming transfers, but then Marcus put on a superhero cape and forced many people to bet on him at gamblingguy. In an amazing string of performances, he scored in 7 consecutive matches up till the draw against Crystal Palace. After Palace, he scored in the next two games. After the Nottingham match in EFL, his total score is 10 goals in 10 matches, an amazing display from the winger.

Rashford’s Debut Season

Marcus made his debut for the United on 25 February 2016 in UEFA Europa League against Midtjylland. It was a debut that could be created by the best Hollywood producers. A lot of players were injured, and he was included in the squad. At the warm-up, another injury happened to Anthony Martial forcing Marcus to start. He contributed to the team’s win with two goals. The movie-like debut continued with goals against Arsenal and Manchester City. The first season ended with 18 first-team appearances and 8 goals, breaking multiple youngest scorer records.

Marcus’ Seasons That Followed

After such a great start, fans raised the bar of expectations from the young player. He got a lot more space in the first team. Since the season 16/17, Marcus played in more than 30 matches every year up to the last year, when he appeared in “only” 25. His by far best season was the 19/20 when he grabbed 17 goals in the Premier League and added 9 assists. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer leaned on him greatly and gave him freedom on the pitch. The worst season for Rashford was the last one, in which he missed the first few games due to a shoulder injury.

Erik ten Hag’s Style of Play Suits Rashford

When the officials from the United confirmed the new manager from Ajax, there was a positive vibe around the club. Fans were looking forward to the attacking and direct style of play he forced on his teams. The transfer of Antony for a lot of money, and the presence of Jadon Sancho in the squad made them think that they will be the main players. In truth, they got more from Eriksen, Casemiro, and above mentioned Marcus Rashford. He is getting more space, more freedom, and more balls. It is no wonder he is turning them into goals.

Conclusion

Rashford stands at 18 goals currently this season in all competitions, of which 9 are in the Premier League. He played in 30 matches, and he scores approximately every 125 minutes. By far the best in this category in the team. He needed 61 shots to score this many goals, meaning his goal conversion is 30 percent. He added 5 assists to that. If he continues to play like this, there will be a lot of smiling faces at Old Trafford this season.
