Arsenal have made official contact with Real Madrid for a loan move for James Rodriguez, according to reports. Rodriguez has been on loan at Bayern Munich from Real Madrid, making 51 appearances and scoring 11 goals over two seasons for the Bavarian giants.
However, Rodriguez has found life difficult under new Bayern coach Niko Kovac, making only 12 appearances for the Bundesliga champions this term, making the midfielder to return to Madrid the following season.
According to the Independent, agents from Arsenal have been sent to Madrid to enquire about a potential loan deal that can be struck for the 27-year-old. However, the report also suggests that the Spanish giants want to sell the Colombian to Spurs as swap deal for their target Christian Eriksen.
With the Gunners having tight funds this January, Arsenal manager Unai Emery has already revealed that players will be signed only on loan with Barcelona’s Denis Suarez also on Emery’s wish list. James Rodriguez had a brilliant World Cup in 2014, where he won the Golden Boot for scoring 6 goals at the tournament.

He was rewarded for his exploits in the World Cup and a record move to Real Madrid followed. Rodriguez had a good first season in Madrid but since then it has been a roller-coaster ride for him.
A managerial change in Madrid occured and his playing time got affected and he became a bench-warmer. A move to Bundesliga followed in 2017 and things got to Rodriguez well as he had a good first season in Bavaria. Another managerial change and James finds himself in the same situation.

However, the risk is for Arsenal to take because we all know that it is tough for foreign players to adapt to the Premier League and he can be a hit or a miss in this situation. But if he is given enough playing time in his favoured number 10 role then it will be interesting to watch in the Premier League.
Arsenal meanwhile ended their FA Cup hopes after a 3-1 defeat to United on Friday at the Emirates in the fourth round of the FA Cup.
