AD Exclusive : Özil’s Training Ground Spat Which Has Resulted in The Midfielders Omission

Mesut Ozil has been missing from the Arsenal side since the season’s restart and Arteta has attributed his disappearance to the usual tired and predictable excuses including fitness concerns and mild injury issues. However, Özil has history of disagreeing with managers, which is probably easier when your form is good, but less easy to tolerate when your performances are average or less

Our inside sources have revealed that Mesut Ozil has presented Arteta with more problems behind the scenes and that the Spaniard has pulled the midfielder and told him that he either plays and trains the way Arteta wants or spends his final season as a bit-part player.

Arteta has had a number of distractions to contend with off the field, the majority of which appear to be players attitudes. Maitland-Niles and Guendouzi have pushed the Spaniard’s tolerance levels and Mesut Ozil may have exhausted any left over patience Arteta had in reserve.

Ozil isn’t a fool and although he’d rather play, he knows he is in the final stages of his well paid career at Arsenal. Yet, the majority of his problems appear to stem from his belief that he is the Gunners star, which requires the appropriate treatment.

Of course, Ozil is one of those players that tends to attract negative headlines, but he’s also one that falls out with a coach fairly frequently. He fell out with Joachim Low and retired, he had a standoff with Mourinho at Real Madrid with the ‘Special one’ referring to him as a ‘coward’. He fell out with Unai Emery after stating “you are not a coach !” and now, it appears, it’s Arteta’s turn.

The circumstances are not known, But AD can reveal that words have been exchanged after a training session and as a result, Arteta then dropped the German playmaker until his attitude aligned with the club’s regarding conduct. None of this is going to be confirmed, which is decidedly inconvenient but Özil has a track record.

Indeed, all has gone quiet as Arsenal and Arteta persist with the back injury story, but Mesut Ozil has not yet returned against Wolves despite expectations that he would have learned the error of his way. A previous spat with his previous boss saw him sidelined for weeks as Emery, who had no love for the superstar mentality, constantly overlooked him.

There’s no doubt that this awful situation between club and player has been allowed to go on for far too long and it’s hard to see any other outcome than them parting company. Supporters just wanted one more show from the German to underline the talent he was blessed with but with each passing day, that looks extremely unlikely.
