There has been an uncertainty about Luke Shaw’s role in the team ever since his arrival who now faces competition from the likes of 2018 Fifa World Cup semi-finalist Ashley Young.

After falling 20 points behind Manchester City last season, Jose Mourinho is keen to make some more new additions to the squad, first preference being wingbacks. Certain reports have suggested that Manchester United have agreed personal terms with Sandro who is underpaid at Juventus but are not willing to meet their 53.7 million price tag. United also have Leicester City’s Harry Maguire and Milan’s Perisic on their radar.

Mourinho in an interview told ESPN :

“One thing is what I would like, Another thing is what is going to happen”

“I would get two more players.”

Alex Sandro is one of the highly rated and proven left backs in Italy. But the Juventus man had an average last season at the club and missed out on a World Cup call falling behind the likes of Marcelo and Filipe Luis. One year ago,Sandro almost left Juventus to join Chelsea but since that failed move he hasn’t quite hit the heights he was expected to.

Manchester United have been keen observers of Sandro but they face competition from Paris Saint German who themselves are in the hunt for a top quality left back. Juventus value Sandro at 50 million even though he has just 2 years remaining in his contract. A bid somewhere near 53 millions same as Fred’s release clause might interest Juventus who have all eyes on Marcelo, but if only they cash out on Sandro.

[spacer height=”30px”]The next three weeks of the transfer window might even see his teammates Rugani and Pjanic making a move with Premier League giants Chelsea and Manchester City interested. Reports suggest that Manchester City are willing to offer as much as 100 million for Pjanic while Chelsea are offering 43 million for Rugani.

With the transfer deadling coming to a close on August 9, Manchester United will need to speed things up if they are to secure the services of Sandro. United face AC Milan, Liverpool and Real Madrid in the International Champions Cup before a friendly match against Bayern Munich. They start their 2018-19 Premier League campaign on 10 August by welcoming Leicester City at Old Trafford.

United also need to sort problems at the right wing especially after Valencia limped off early against San Jose Earthquakes and is set to miss three weeks of action.

“I don’t think he will be available to play any one of the three matches of the International Champions Cup,” Mourinho said of Valencia, who is expected to be named Michael Carrick’s successor as club captain.”

[spacer height=”20px”]

“It’s not a moment to take any risks. Antonio is a player that’s not a young boy anymore. We have to take care of him and to try to have him ready for the start of the season.”

[spacer height=”20px”]

“We bought a fantastic player [in Dalot]: young, 19 years old, but I think probably the best right-back at that age in European football.”

[spacer height=”20px”]

“But he had a surgery last May and is recovering for that, so one more reason to take care of Antonio.”[spacer height=”30px”]
