REVEALED VIA SKY SPORTS | What is next for Arsenal duo Petr Cech and David Ospina

Petr Cech, David Ospina, Arsenal Goalkeepers, Bernd Leno, Yann Sommer to Arsenal

Future of goalkeepers Petr Cech and David Ospina is hanging in balance after new signing Bernd Leno at Emirates. Arsenal have recently signed Bernd Leno for £22m transfer fee from German giants Bayer Leverkusen.[spacer height=”30px”]

Bernd Leno and veteran Petr Cech are expected to compete for number one position for forthcoming season, resulting into potential departure for David Ospina. Last season’s third choice keeper Emiliano Martinez played recent friendly fixture for Arsenal and is hoping to stay as third choice keeper for upcoming 2018-19 season.[spacer height=”30px”]

[spacer height=”30px”]Former Chelsea legend Petr Cech has almost every goalkeeping record for English Premier League in his glove but time has come for him and for Arsenal to consider his future. His performances for Arsenal in last two seasons were not at all satisfactory as we suffered a trophy less season and finished sixth in league table.[spacer height=”30px”]

[spacer height=”30px”]
Napoli and London rivals Chelsea are both interested in Cech with latter being linked from yesterday after their current number one Thibaut Courtois has strongly reportedly agreed to a Real Madrid move. Going back to Chelsea is more likely to happen as Chelsea have played very big part in his legendary status. But loosing both Cech and Ospina with no competition for Leno will be a risky decision by Unai Emery.[spacer height=”30px”]

[spacer height=”30px”]He can still play at higher level for another season and can keep Leno on bench for 2018-19 season but new manager Unai Emery is likely to play Leno in league matches and Cech in Europa league matches. Choosing first choice keeper for this season will be headache for new manager but offloading both Cech and David Ospina seems unlikely and hugely risky and foolish too. [spacer height=”30px”]

David Ospina is entering in his fifth season with London giants after signing from Nice for just £3m in 2014, his contract with Arsenal runs for another two years till end of 2019 season. He enjoyed his debut season at Emirates in 2014-15 after first choice goalkeeper Szczesny was sidelined and made ineffective with a suspension for his controversial smoking saga.[spacer height=”30px”]

[spacer height=”30px”]But after that he has played every season since as the back up goalkeeper to Petr Cech and taking his place between the sticks for the Europa League and Cup Games every season. [spacer height=”30px”]

However he never seemed strong and convincing enough to replace Petr Cech even though Cech’s performances have generated quite a few questions about his abilities due to his age and his erroneous decision making proving costly all too often. [spacer height=”30px”]

So new goalkeeper was a priority at Emirates and that has been fulfilled recently with new signing of Bernd Leno from Bayer Leverkusen.[spacer height=”30px”]

David Ospina however during the world cup played all four of his matches for Columbia and even emerged as a hero in quite a few occasions for his country with the immaculate saves and performances at the World Cup 2018 and eventually saw themselves knocked out by England on penalties in last sixteen round despite having saved a brilliant penaty during the shootouts.[spacer height=”30px”]

Even since Ospina has seen his future at Arsenal hugely clouded and obscured with strongs links and bids from Boca Juniors, Fenerbahce and Napoli emerging in the press very frequently. [spacer height=”30px”]

The Sun reported, Argentine club Boca Juniors are closing on Ospina with fee around just £5m but with the player’s agent actively seeking other options right here in Europes top five leagues rather than back in South America.[spacer height=”30px”]

[spacer height=”30px”]Napoli are also interested in David Ospina as they have in hunt for two goalkeepers as their regular number one Pepe Reina has left recently. They have secured one goalkeeper young Italian Alex Meret already but manager Carlo Ancelotti is looking for another stiff competition for Meret and this move can be good deal for both parties.[spacer height=”30px”]

Another possible destination for David Ospina is Turkish giants Fenerbahce as Dailystar News has recently spotted Fenerbahce chiefs in London for a potential David Ospina move just like every other summer. [spacer height=”30px”]

Arsenal are starting new chapter in their history with new manager Unai Emery and overhaul in squad. Fans will be eager to see who is going to start and bench in first match of season which is fixtured against league champions Manchester City on 12th August.[spacer height=”30px”]
