Arsenal have reached a £60m agreement in principle with Borussia Dortmund to sign Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, according to Sky Sports News with the deal being subject to a replacement being secured by Dortmund.

Arsenal have been linked with the Gabon International for more or less the entire winter transfer window with the news being first broken by Guillem Balagué on twitter revealing the Gunners interest in securing his services.

After what has been quite an hectic and unusual winter transfer for the Gunners which has seen an incredibly rare swap deal come to fruition, it seems like the Aubameyang transfer saga is also finally drawing to a close with Arsenal having agreed a fee after weeks of lowballing the German club and meticulously drawing out this saga for as long as possible.

In a deal that will make him the clubs record transfer signing, it also includes making him the club’s highest-paid player which is quite remarkable given that we had just made Mikhitaryan the clubs record wage earner and previously having broken the club transfer record in signing Alexandre Lacazette.

Arsenal are also reported to have offered Aubameyang a three-and-a-half-year contract worth £180,000 a week as they look to bolster their incredibly fearsome attacking options.

While thats all amazing and is getting all the Arsenal fans drolling about an attacking line featuring the likes of Lacazette, Aubameyang, Mikhitaryan with Ozil, and Wilshere rolling out the chances for them. It is also worth noting that the deal now hinges on Dortmund managing to secure a replacement in the form of Michy Batshuayi or Anthony Modeste.
[spacer height=”30px”]
While it is a cause for concern given the very short time that is now left for both the clubs to get their respective deals over the line, its also quite obvious that Dortmund have been resigned to losing their player for quite some time now and would surely have progressed in their talks in securing the replacement that they have in their mind. For my part I feel that its going to be Michy heading over there to gift Aubameyang to us.

Quite some favour from Chelsea in helping our cause and also helping us form this attacking front four.

Also we could do with some assist from Mesut Ozil in helping us get the deal over the deal !!!!
