[spacer height=”20px”]Emile Smith-Rowe, the birthdayy boy, is someone every Gooner is talking about right now. With a wonder goal against Atletico Madrid on Thursday and a beautiful assist vs Paris Saint-Germain today, the youngster has been Arsenal’s star in the International Champions Cup.

Smith-Rowe is a product of Arsenal’s academy and has coupled his rise through club ranks with progress in England’s youth set-up. The Englishman is an exciting attacking midfielder who has the ability to unlock defences and assist team-mates as well as scoring dazzling individual goals.

Jack Wilshere noticed Smith-Rowe’s talent quite early,
“You can see over the years the good players that haven’t quite made it.
[spacer height=”10px”]
“But he has got something a little bit special, and he has a real chance.”

Wilshere commented.

Smith-Rowe scored 13 goals and weighed in with four assists at youth level last season. Additionally, the Arsenal youth product can be lethal from dead ball situations as well, his brilliant free-kick against Blackpool in the Fa Youth Cup quarter final last season is testimonial to this.

However, the London outfit do have a host of attacking midfielders at present. Henrikh Mkhitaryan only arrived from Manchester United a few months ago and is expected to play a huge role next season. Then there’s Mesut Ozil and Alex Iwobi, while the Gunners are still on the market for a new winger in the transfer window. This being said, I am convinced the young prospect would get chances to shine in both the Carabao Cup and the FA Cup next season.

The manager is pleased with Smith- Rowe to a great extent. Unai Emery, as we saw him at his time at Sevilla, notices young players with talent very fast and Emile was certainly on his radar.

💬 "He’s close to expressing his quality with the first team. He’s 17 so I think this is the moment for Emile Smith Rowe and I’m very happy with him" – Unai Emery@emilesmithrowe_ is beginning to prove our head coach right 🔥#ICC2018 pic.twitter.com/Eok3ZfXtC1

In my opinion, Smith-Rowe is an immense talent for the future. With both Ozil and Mkhytarian almost 30, he can see himself in the first team in the next 2-3 years, that is if he continues to shine. I believe Smith-Rowe will play majority of the season in the U23’s next season.
[spacer height=”30px”]
However, it shouldn’t discourage the midfielder and he should believe in himself and strive to become an Arsenal starter.Smith-Rowe is one gem in making but Arsenal needs to be patience with the youngster and then they can surely reap the benefits in future.
