Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has claimed that Paul Pogba is the best midfielder of his kind in world football.
The Frenchman is untouchable right now, and is in the form of his life. He has the most goal involvements than any other midfielder in Europe’s top 5 leagues, 21 – 16 goals and 9 assists.
He is a far cry from the Pogba that kicked off the current Premier League season looking completely out of it, despite his glorious World Cup campaign with France in the summer. A very public falling out with Jose Mourinho, a dip in form and rather strangely being relegated to the bench in favor of Scott McTominay and Fred. It feels like decades have passed since then when in reality, it’s only been 3 months.
Such has been his drastic improvement under Solskjaer. He is now being labelled by many as the best midfielder in the world. While some might disagree with that statement, the stats are in his favour. Still only 25, there is so much room for improvement and Pogba will only keep getting better.
Having managed Pogba while he was still coming through the academy ranks at Old Trafford, Solskjaer is fully aware of his talents and is determined to get the best out of him. The fact that there has already been so much of improvement in the Frenchman’s form since the Norwegian took over shows he is already on the way to doing that.
Moreover, the interim manager earlier claimed that the Frenchman could captain the Manchester United team in the near future. His leadership skills and authority over his teammates can be clearly visible on the pitch.

To think the last time United faced Liverpool, they got battered 3-1 while Pogba was an unused substitute on the bench, still baffles many a fan. However, Solskjaer confirmed that the Frenchman will play in the blockbuster clash of United Vs Liverpool on Sunday.
Speaking at his press conference ahead of the Liverpool game, Solskjaer said of Pogba:
“He will play now!”
“He is a top top player that I have always liked, since I saw him play as a kid.
“He is a World Cup winner, he is a leader in the dressing room, on the pitch as well. He wants the ball all the time.
“My idea was to get him playing to the best of his abilities. I thought, ‘he is an attacking midfielder’.
“You saw PSG man-marked him (in the Champions League), other teams probably will.
“I don’t know if Liverpool will. If they do, it may leave space for others – we need to be ready for that.
“There are different types of midfielders but, in his mould, I don’t think there is anyone near – with his physical presence, he can score goals, his close technique.
“He can also spray passes when he is sitting in midfield – I don’t think that is his best position, but he can do that as well.”
