Solskjaer Reveals Exactly How he Plans To Help Rashford Improve This Incredibly Important Aspect Of His Game

Rashford

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has revealed that he will do special sessions with Marcus Rashford to work on his finishing.

The youngster has been in brilliant form this season, tearing defenses apart. His constant running at defenders and creating space for his team mates has been brilliant. Those attributes, coupled with his immense work-rate, have made him a stand-out player. However, the one area he has struggled this season is scoring goals.

The youngster has just 4 goals in 16 games, despite leading the line multiple times this season. As a striker, that is a pretty poor record. By comparison, Anthony Martial has 8 goals in 14 Premier League games playing as a winger.

Rashford has a brilliant shot on him, but his accuracy and confidence 1v1 has been lacking. Solskjaer has also noticed that the Englishman’s clever runs through the channels often go unnoticed by his team-mates. This is something he will work on extensively in training, and by playing him in more games.

“What we can do with him is use him more, because I don’t think the team is used to his runs,” Solskjaer replied.

“If you just watch him, the amount of runs and the good runs he makes in second half when we’re 2-0 up and 3-0 up and he makes runs in behind and he gets in behind the defence.

“We must look for his runs earlier. His speed is his strength. I’m going to work with him on his finishing. He’s just got to calm down a little bit.

“He’s got a great strike from outside the box and inside the box we’ll just keep on working on being cool and calm and pass it past the keeper.”

Solskjaer is probably the best person for Rashford to learn from. The man knows a thing or two about scoring goals alright, scoring 126 goals in 366 appearances for United during an 11 year spell. With Martial doing bits in front of goal and Paul Pogba and Jesse Lingard chipping in as well, having Rashford back to his goal-scoring best would make United impossible to deal with.
