[spacer height=”20px”]After impressive performances in last couple of seasons with Sevilla, Steven N’Zonzi is reportedly looking to leave the Spanish side. Newspapers in Spain have linked the midfielder with the Gunners , especially with Unai Emery at service.

Unai Emery and Steven N’Zonzi have worked together when Emery used to manage Sevilla. In a recent interview, Emery clearly denied the speculation that Arsenal are looking to bring in Steven however some top news sources still think there a chance. With Lucas Torreira in Emery’s bag, do Arsenal need another defensive midfielder. Papers and rumors never stop, do they?

But the real question here is, Do Arsenal really need N’Zonzi?

N’Zonzi is a firefighter and an architect rolled into one, putting out blazing counterattacks while dictating the run of play.He has earned comparisons to compatriot Patrick Vierra both in style and physical ability. He is also able to cover great distance during a match. N’Zonzi has experience of playing in the Premier League after spells with Blackburn and Stoke and has excelled during his time in La Liga.

With Arsenal recently buying both Matteo Guendouzi and Lucas Torreira , the gunners already have a surplus of defensive midfieders- The fight between Granit Xhaka, Lucas Torreira, Mohamed Elneny, Matteo Guendouzi and Ainsley Maitland-Niles for the position of a defensive midfielder is already very competitive. Putting another player in the mix would just be foolish. With Emery most probably going with the 4-1-3-2 formation , only one defensive midfielder would be implemented making Steven N’zonzi an extra.

Additionally ,N’Zonzi will not come cheap as he has a release clause of £35 million. Arsenal currently don’t have the transfer budget to buy him and would have to sell some players which is quiet a complex process.

If we hadn’t bought Lucas Torreira , the former stoke man would be one of our top priorities for the summer , however things didn’t go that way.I opine that the midfield is in fantastic shape. They are packed with youngsters ,newbies and veterans, all within an age range that constitutes a lengthy future with this exact crew and to add someone to this would not be beneficial at all.[spacer height=”60px”]
