Barcelona Offer United Two Players In Swap Deal For Securing Possible Luis Suarez Replacement

Rashford, Rashford Linked to Barcelona

Marcus Rashford broke into Manchester United’s first team in 2016 when the Red Devils took on Midjylland in the Europa League. Three days later, Louis van Gaal handed Rashford his Premier League debut against Arsenal.

The youngster made sure to wear his scoring boots for both the matches scoring a brace in each game and earning his team victories in the process.

Now, the 21-year-old England international has become an integral part of the first team, for both United and England, in the past couple of years and his qualities have not gone unnoticed around Europe.

Earlier in the year, The Guardian reported that Spanish giants Real Madrid are interested in the forward and might make a move to sway the youngster to follow the footsteps of Cristiano Ronaldo and Rudd van Nistelrooy, both of whom had left Old Trafford for Santiago Bernabeu.

In a new twist of events, it seems that Madrid’s biggest rivals, Barcelona, are also interested in the services of Marcus Rashford.

According to Mundo Deportivo, the Catalan side wants to bring the Manchester United forward to Camp Nou and are willing to make ‘a huge effort’ for the same.

With Luis Suarez, who is on the wrong side of 30, slowly walking past his prime, Barcelona is looking around Europe to find a long term replacement for the Uruguayan striker.

Suarez, despite his 18 LaLiga goals this season, has been far from his best. In the wake of this, Rashford has emerged as the top target for the Catalan side’s summer business, though players like Antoine Griezmann and Paco Alcacer are also part of the shortlist.

It is believed that Luka Jovic, 21, is also on the radar having impressed the Barcelona management with his performances for Frankfurt.

However, it is unlikely that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will just sit back and let Barcelona take Rashford away from Manchester.

Rashford has been one of the first names on the team sheet since Solskjaer’s appointment and has repaid his manager’s faith in him with far greater consistency in front of goal than he displayed earlier on in the season.

Solskjaer has also identified the Manchester United academy graduate’s talent and has played his as a number nine, a role Marcus prefers compared to the wide-man role handed to him by Mourinho.

Rashford, who has been at United since he was 7 years old, is seemingly happy at the club and Barcelona will know that it won’t be easy to sway the forward into joining the Catalans.

Barcelona is supposedly ready to offer Philippe Coutinho or Malcom to Manchester United in a player plus cash deal to land the services of Rashford.

Coutinho has been linked to a move to the Theatre of Dreams in recent times and Barcelona may use the club’s interest in the Brazilian to its advantage.

Malcom, who has had a disappointing first season at Barcelona, may also be a lucrative option shall United decide to let Rashford leave.

Rashford’s departure from United seems highly unlikely, though. The young man is adored by the supporters, has the faith of his manager, and is a regular starter for his boyhood club. The recent appointment of Solskjaer as United’s permanent manager for the next 3 years has also further cemented his place in the starting line-up. Life cannot get any better for him.

United will play Barcelona in the Champions League next month and his performance in the two-legged tie may influence Barcelona’s decision.

We have to wait till the summer transfer window to see the conclusion to these rumours, but for now, all that the United faithful can do is enjoy United’s matches, support the club with all their might, and make Rashford feel at home.
