Thomas Partey could be an Arsenal player within weeks as both sides try to do a deal sooner rather than later. The Atletico Madrid midfielder seemingly wants the deal done as “quickly as possible“, but Arsenal have yet to agree the transfer fee and club representatives risk losing the player’s interest if they take too long.
He’s not without options or offers, so time is not on Arsenal’s side if they are to be taken seriously. It’s rumoured that Arsenal’s technical director Edu is heavily involved and just requires a guarantee of funds to close it completely.
Partey has indicated that Arsenal is his preferred option because he regards the club’s football history and its star-studded assortment of iconic players. Thomas is looking for a challenge and considers that the Premier League and Arsenal will provide him with both.
However, just a couple of days back, former Ghana midfielder, Derek Boateng advised Partey not to sign for the Gunners. He told JoyFM via Goal:
“He needs to be at a place where he will be happy, respected and get a lot of playing time”
Before adding:
“Make all the money you want but if the coach doesn’t play you, you won’t be happy.”
“I will not advise him to move to Arsenal right because he is a Champions League player and with the look of the Arsenal team right now, they are not ready with the kind of players they have and some are going to move.”
He ended on an ominous note by saying:
“He has to move to a team that plays in the Champions League otherwise he will lose everything.”
This sort of advice will likely keep coming for the Atletico Madrid midfielder for the same reason, so Edu needs to get the signature on the contract and blow the ink dry.
