Three Incredible Things That Arsenal Should Learn From The Man Utd-Arsenal Match

Arsenal, Manchester United, Manchester United vs Arsenal, Arsene Wenger farewell, Pogba

Arsenal were held to a 2-2 draw by Manchester United on a chilly Wednesday night as the Red devils came from behind two times in the fixture.

Anthony Martial first equalized after Shkodran Mustafi’s opener, while Jesse Lingard did the same following Alexandre Lacazette’s previous attempt on goal which was later adjudged as a Marcus Rojo own goal.

Both teams tried to go for a win, but neither could come away with all 3 points on the day.

4 points out of probable 6 in three days against the big boys might not go down as bad business for Arsenal, as the Gunners extended their unbeaten run to 20 games now in all competitions. But for the Red Devils, this result is something to chew upon as they find themselves without a win in the last 4 league fixtures.

The Gunners are in full flow at the moment and are showing some brilliant displays which they can be proud of.

Aaron Ramsey and Rob Holding suffered injuries during the game and the duration of their absence is still unknown, but despite this setback, the North Londoners have plenty in their locker to throw at their opponents. This is the kind of showing that is engineering their slow rise back to regular top-four football in England!

Here are the 3 important things that we noticed from the Manchester United vs Arsenal clash:

1. The Importance of Granit Xhaka

The Swiss international was serving a one-match ban for picking up five yellow cards, which led to Mattéo Guendouzi partnering the ever present Lucas Torreira.

Arsenal were lacking some key passes in the final third – which Xhaka delivers with ease – as the Red Devils didn’t push forward with venom, leading to a below-par performance.

Both Torreira and Xhaka benefit from playing together in the middle and dominating games with strong displays, and the pair will unite again from Saturday against Huddersfield to ensure Arsenal’s winning ways.

2. Sead Kolašinac is Starting to Look Better by Game

The Bosnian Tank is a perfect example of how badly a player can be underrated. He has been absolutely brilliant in the past few weeks, making the left wing a position his own. Be it attacking or defending, the left wingback is doing more than good at the moment and his displays aren’t unnoticed.

Kolašinac is very effective when Arsenal play 3 at the back, as he has the freedom to maraud forward providing crosses for the front men. His defensive displays have been good in recent times, as he combined with Holding in the United game to shield Leno’s goal.

3. An Improved Defense is All That Arsenal Needs

Arsenal have a plethora of attackers and midfielders at their disposal who have contributed to the recent unbeaten run of 20 games. But their defense needs strengthening; due to Rob Holding’s injury, it is imperative that Arsenal acquire someone in the January transfer window.

The Arsenal vs Manchester United game saw plenty of scope for club improvement. Whether Emery continues with back three or switches back to traditional four is to be seen. With Laurent Koscielny and Nacho Monreal still not perfectly fit, Arsenal may find themselves short at the back.

Arsenal need one quality central defender and one winger to challenge again, and it looks like they need to play some part in the winter transfer window.

The sun is still shining bright at the Emirates and there is growing belief among the supporters as Arsenal are on a brilliant unbeaten run and are looking very strong, especially against the big boys which wasn’t the case under Arsène Wenger.

The Gunners’ improvement under Emery is very promising and their play is wildly entertaining. Fans have finally started to dream and hope again.

For now they have to target three important points against Huddersfield on Saturday with Chelsea playing Manchester City and Tottenham locking horns with Leicester City.
