According to claims arising in Italy, Douglas Costa could land at Old Trafford, imparting him the opportunity of a new challenge, a new league after United’s consolidated interest in securing the Brazilian’s signature for the summer.
Manchester United has been on a roll under the new management of Ole Gunnar Solksjaer. The team is now playing some quality football which they were pretty much deprived of in the past few years.
With the announcement of Ole taking over the mantle officially, United fans can expect the same quality to continue over the years now. But, recent results have shown that there is work required to be done in the summer.
With the number of injuries to key players, United have suffered dearly. The defeat to PSG at Old Trafford served as a harsh reality check for the team about their evident lack of depth in their squad. Without Martial and Lingard, United lacked the clear edge going forward and unfortunately have had to suffer for it considerately.
This clearly depicts the need for reinforcements in the team in the summer transfer window with even Solskjaer admitting the need to bring in quality reinforcements during the off season.
United have been linked with various names for the upcoming summer window. And, one of the names United are now being touted forward is that of the Juventus star ‘Douglas Costa.‘
The attacker is a handy asset for any team. With traits like eye catching pacy and having an eye for the goal with multiple tricks up his sleeve, he has established himself as a player worth spending on.

And according to reports Douglas Costa is also being eyed by some of the top Premier League clubs, with Manchester City and Tottenham among those who are being linked to the Brazilian apart from United.
With Ole at the wheel next season it’s almost sure that United will play some classic attacking football which they were known for in the past. United are also linked to the likes of Jadon Sancho, Joao Felix and Bruno Fernandes. With the likes of Martial, Lingard, Rashford, Lukaku and Pogba; United are well stocked in the attacking position.
But the lack of alternatives has clearly shown the need to sign some backup. With the likes of Sanchez, Bailly reportedly about to leave the club. United should have some space to fill those gaps with new signings. Although Jadon Sancho is the favourite to sign for the club with a €110m bid reportedly made, someone like Douglas Costa can be a valuable asset if that fails.
Douglas Costa has been linked before with the club in the past although no deal ever materialised. Having spend a considerate period of time with the ‘Old Lady’, since his transfer from Bayern, it may just be the ideal time for the Brazilian to consider finally ending up on English shores and who better to represent than England’s most decorated top flight club.
With a host of elite European clubs already after his signature moving on should be no problem for a player of his calibre and what’s here to be seen is whether Old Trafford ends up being his next destination or not.
