According to reports in London, the Turkish side Trabzonspor are in talks with Manchester United over the possible transfer of Axel Tuanzebe. Trabzonspor could very likely make a move for the United centre-back in the ongoing transfer window.
Manchester United’s 24-year-old defender, Axel Tuanzebe has been out-of-favour at Old Trafford and may move on from the Premier League to play for the Turkish side Trabzonspor in the 2022-23 campaign.
Tuanzebe is a Manchester United youth system graduate but has struggled for first-team chances at the club since making his debut in the 2016-17 season. Due to his inconsistent and underwhelming performances, he was sent out on numerous loan spells.
The centre-back spent the second half of the 2017-18 season on loan at Championship side Aston Villa. However, after suffering an injury, his loan spell was cut short and he was able to make only five appearances (stats via Transfermarkt) before returning to United.
Apart from Aston Villa, the English centre-back also played for Serie A side Napoli on loan last season. However, he only made two appearances for the Italian outfit before making a return to Manchester in the hope of more game time and first-team opportunities.
As underlined by the Turkish outlet, Fanatik, Trabzonspor have come to the fore to seek the services of Tuanzebe as manager Abdullah Avcı is keen on bolstering his defensive options at the Medical Park Stadium before the campaign ends. The outlet further highlights Trabzonspor’s interest in Tuanzebe stating:
“Trabzonspor are considering making a move for Tuanzebe this summer. The 24-year-old’s contract expires next year, so Manchester United are likely to allow him to leave for a small fee.”
Axel Tuanzebe has been a forgotten man and is certainly out of new United manager Erik ten Hag’s plans. The Dutchman recently brought in Lisandro Martinez to reinforce the backline, which already had Harry Maguire, Raphael Varane, Victor Lindelof, and Phil Jones standing ahead of Tuanzebe in the pecking order.

This reflects that an exit for the United academy graduate is very much on the cards. Injury issues have eclipsed the centre-back’s career, making him consider a move away from Old Trafford this summer.

A transfer for Tuanzebe is very much possible and an agreement can be reached between the parties in the coming days. Trabzonspor are likely to push for a move and complete the transfer of the 24-year-old defender as his playing time with the Red Devils has become scarce in recent times and it doesn’t look like improving.
