Arsenal have shown plenty of positive signs as they rebuild their squad in the post-Arsene Wenger era under the management Unai Emery. Especially, some players have shown a lot of promise such as Guendouzi, Lucas Torreira, etc.
The Gunners started the season really well! They hit a roadblock mid-season, but have regained momentum and are just one point below Spurs on 4th having played a game less than their North London rivals. Having missed out on the Champions League for 2 seasons now, Emery and his men would be desperate to clinch a top 4 place this term.
The Gunners took a major step towards their return to Champions League football with a 2-0 win over Newcastle United on Monday, to move up to fourth in the Premier League table.
Emery’s side have demonstrated outstanding home form throughout the campaign whilst several players have emerged as key figures in their side. A key factor to judge the performances of the players is the leadership skills demonstrated on the pitch.
In an interview with COPA90, Emery revealed two of the most improved players at the club. He said:
“We are 25 players, and can only play 11, 18 in the squad, it’s very difficult to give everyone an opportunity to improve. There are some players maybe you can see this year their improvement – Lucas Torreira, Matteo Guendouzi.”
Emery also reserved praise for other players, but specifically singled out the two young midfielders, Matteo Guendouzi and Lucas Torreira, as the most Improved Players at the club.
Even if you ask me, I ‘d say these 2 midfielders have done a great job this season. Being in the Premier League for the first time, and still playing with so much consistency is not an easy task, but both of them did a great job.
Lucas Torreira, 22 and Matteo Guendouzi, 19, have answered some, if not all, Arsenal’s future midfield problems. Both of them have ensured the fans that they can rely on the youngsters to take care of the Midfield.
