These Are The Three Forwards United Are Targeting After Passing Up On Gareth Bale

Manchester United have turned their head away from Gareth Bale and are considering three forwards as possible alternatives, according to reports in the Manchester Evening News.

United have been linked with Bale since his days at Tottenham Hotspur, but no deal ever went through to bring him to Old Trafford. The Welshman now finds himself at a crossroads with Zinedine Zidane at Real Madrid and is eager to leave the club this summer. However, with three years still left on his contract at the Bernabeu, there seems to be no way out of the club for him.

Despite his undeniable talent, Bale’s injury record has made life hard for him in Spain. He has struggled to fully win the support of the fans and the higher-ups at the club. Now 29 years of age, United do not feel he is worth his hefty price tag. His incredible salary demands also makes it ridiculously hard for any club, let alone United, to sign him up.

The Red Devils have hence rejected the chance to sign him, and are eyeing three forwards as potential alternative signings. These include the likes of Lille’s Nicolas Pépé, Lyon’s Moussa Dembélé and Bournemouth’s Ryan Fraser.

All three are talented wingers that are in serious demand at the moment after their performances last season. With Daniel James signing for the club, it is possible that they might go in for just one of the three aforementioned starlets. Whether they can pull it off in time though, is another discussion altogether.

United have a lot to work on this summer. Ed Woodward has been tasked with bringing in at least 5 new players after the club released 15 from their books last week. Considering last season’s turmoil, things have kicked off very slow for the club in the window so far. A number of players have been linked with switches to Old Trafford, but nothing has been finalized yet bar the deal for James.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka has been rumored to be close to completing a move to the club for quite a while now. Bruno Fernandes is reportedly close as well, but there has been no official confirmation whatsoever.

United can obviously afford to sign whoever they want to, which is why rumors have started to circulate regarding a £95 million move for Antoine Griezmann to hijack his transfer to Barcelona. However, judging by the pace at which Woodward is concluding his business right now, it appears as though the club will only make around 3 signings before the window closes. Only time will tell whether these reports have any truth to them.
