Since joining the Red Devils, the young goalkeeper has been loaned to seven teams, all in the lower tier leagues.

In January 2017, Sam Johnstone signed a loan deal with Championship side Aston Villa till the end of that season. During this period, he kept more clean sheets than any other keeper in the Championship.

In July 2017, the young English goalkeeper returned to Aston Villa on a loan deal for the 2017-18 season. Sam has nine months remaining on his contract with United till June 2018.

According to reports from news outlet Manchester Evening News, Sam Johnstone can make a permanent switch to Championship side Aston Villa in the winter transfer window.

[spacer height=”30px”]

Sam Johnstone opted for a second spell at Aston Villa as his chances seemed very bleak at Old Trafford in presence of De Gea, Sergio Romero and Joel Pereira.

[spacer height=”30px”]

Johnstone has already hit the first team at the Championship outfit having spend a successful period at Villa Park during the second half of last season.

[spacer height=”30px”]

The U-19 English International has kept five clean sheets so far at Aston Villa since the start of 2017/18 season having nailed down his place in playing XI.

[spacer height=”30px”]

Aston Villa seemed to be very keen in signing the young goalkeeper from Manchester United, claims manager Steve Bruce.

[spacer height=”30px”]

Reports have confirmed that Bruce and Villa are hoping to sign Sam Johnstone on permanent basis in the January transfer window. The Championship outfit will look to convince Jose Mourinho for a permanent deal with Sam’s contract remains till the end of the current season.

[spacer height=”10px”]

“It would be great to keep him here for the next few years as Villa’s No.1.”

[spacer height=”10px”]

“I will need to ask the question. The ideal move for us would be to buy him in January. You’ve seen it, a young goalkeeper coming in and getting better with every game he plays.”

[spacer height=”10px”]

“The difference in him since he’s started in January to now is light years. He’s confident, playing every week and he’s playing real football.”

[spacer height=”30px”]

The English goalkeeper has started all the matches for Aston Villa with the outfit hoping to get promoted to Premier League for next season.

[spacer height=”30px”]

Sam Johnstone has been brilliant during his two spells at Villa Park as they look to make a big impact in the promotion race.

[spacer height=”30px”]

Moreover, the U-19 England International has been nominated for Player of the Month award for September in the Championship draw according to news.

[spacer height=”30px”]

It is no surprise why Aston Villa want to sign him for permanent as he has the potential to be one of the finest keepers in the country.

[spacer height=”30px”]

This year it seems as a real chance for Aston Villa to sign him having few months remaining on his contract with United.

[spacer height=”30px”]

The Red Devils will also have no problem in selling their academy ace with the emergence of Joel Pereira as his replacement as the third goalkeeper.

[spacer height=”30px”]

Manchester United will look to cash in on Sam Johnstone as his contract nears an end with the Reds.
