If rumours are to be believed, Manchester United are keeping tabs on £42m rated Brazilian right-back, Eder Militao and are bound to face tough competition from other elite European clubs for the defender.
Ever since the arrival of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Manchester United have moved into top gear. They are on a 4 game winning run in the Premier League and Ole’s presence on the sidelines has sensationally brought the likes of Pogba, Rashford, and Lukaku back to form.
United have been on a free-scoring spree with 14 goals in 4 Premier League games under the interim manager. But the real concern for the Reds has been their defense that even Solskjaer has failed to address yet. Out of these four games, United has managed only 1 clean sheet despite facing lowly ranked sides.
Ever since the opening of the winter transfer window, Manchester United have been poised to make a big defensive signing to propel them back to contention for a top four finish. So far, no rumors have solidified and neither has the manager made any of his demands public.

According to the news outlet Daily Mail, the Red Devils have joined the race to sign 20-year-old Porto full-back, Eder Militao, who is already looking pretty enticing to Europe’s elite.
Eder Militao is a 20-year-old Porto right-back, who is in excellent form this season having almost become one of the mostly highly sought after defender. His performances this season have been terrific, thus, that he has the potential to become one of the best in Europe.
The 20-year-old is still a very raw prospect and has a lot to learn but doing so at a top side like United can really help in his development. Eder just signed a new contract in summer 2018 with a release clause of £42.5million. Considering the current market and its inflation, the sum for a very promising 20-year-old might be a good buy.
Apart from Manchester United, Liverpool and Real Madrid have also been monitoring the Porto defender, according to The Sun. United do lack in their defense with Eric Baily and Victor Lindelof both under performing and Ashley Young and Antonio Valencia slowly aging, The Reds need serious talent to lift their defense.
Addition of Eder Militao may be good for the club but, considering the presence of Diogo Dalot, the signing makes less sense. Dalot has had an impressive season so far as not only has he come off the academy to the senior team squad but also earned a few appearances for his club.
At just 19, he is also an immense talent and signing another fullback may well hamper his progress. Eder Militao might be an instant starter for the club as he has already spent quality time in the first XI of Porto, but even Dalot’s performances are notable to the supporters.
Rather than another young full-back, Manchester United more importantly need an experienced center back who can lead the complete United defense and single-handedly keep clean sheets for them. The Reds have often been linked with Kalidou Koulibaly but Napoli have constantly resisted offers for the Senegal International.
On returning from the FA Cup break with a 2-0 win against Reading, Manchester United face an uphill task against Tottenham which will be the first major test for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Manchester United.
