According to the sources in Italy, Manchester United has submitted their final bid to sign Kalidou Koulibaly. It is rumored that Manchester United have offered £84 million to lure Koulibaly from Napoli.
According to Italian sports outlet Corriere dello Sport, Red Devils have made the Senegal international as their primary and most important target of the summer after a dismal 2018-19 season for the club. During last season, the club offered very little or no resistance to opposition attacks and shipped in over 50 goals in Premier League alone. This has raised a serious question about the abilities of defenders currently at Old Trafford.
To avoid the same disappointment in 2019-20, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has forced the club to lure away the Senegal central defender Kalidou Koulibaly to the Theatre of Dreams. Also, the club is linked with defenders like Matthijs de Ligt and Toby Alderweireld to solve their defensive woes.
On the other hand, Napoli club president, Aurelio De Laurentiis is demanding over €100 million to sell the player. Napoli is demanding a world record fee from Manchester United to sell the player. In 53 appearances across all competitions, Koulibaly has remained solid. He has 1.8 tackles per game apart from 1.2 interceptions per game for the Serie A club. These stats have certainly made the Senegalese international, one of the best central defenders around the world.
However, Juventus has joined the race to sign the ace defender. With Maurizio Sarri possibly returning to Italy after a successful season at Chelsea, Juventus also wants to sign the imposing defender.
Manchester United shipped in excess of 50 goals previous season. With the dire need of solid defenders quite evident, pundits have linked Manchester United with many strong names such as Toby Alderweireld, Kostas Manolas, Raphael Varane, Matthijs de Ligt apart from Kalidou Koulibaly. Napoli might not reject the staggering offer of £84 million for their world-class defender. Meanwhile at Old Trafford, Koulibaly will be a valuable addition to the current United squad.
On the other hand, the 27-year-old defender has 3+ years remaining on his contract. Napoli has no urgency to sell the player. Only time will tell if Manchester United can lure Napoli into selling the center-back.
