Who’s in and Who’s not? Manchester United Receive Incredible TRIPLE Injury Boost as Solsjkaer Drops Starting XI Hint for Liverpool Clash

United Vs Liverpool, Liverpool

Manchester United welcome their fiercest rival Liverpool for their home Premier League fixture against the Reds. The away fixture ended in a 3-1 defeat for the Devils which saw the end of Mourinho’s reign.

The incredible run of the Red Devils under their interim manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer took a slight pit-stop as they faced a 2-0 drubbing at home against PSG in their Champions League face-off last week.

United made sure that the defeat seemed like a minor hiccup with a convincing performance at Stamford Bridge to knock the blues out of contention in the FA Cup. Manchester United defeated Chelsea 2-0 with Paul Pogba proving his immense value to the side in their rout of Chelsea

Along with trying to get their hands on a piece of silverware like the FA Cup or the Champions League, a top four spot is probably the top priority for the Caretaker Manager. With 2 away wins against Leicester and Fulham, the Devils are riding high on confidence in the Premier League as they are about to face the table-toppers Liverpool on Sunday at the Old Trafford.

The morale dampening loss against PSG also saw United lose two of their crucial playmakers to injury. Anthony Martial and Jesse Lingard both limped off during the game and Paul Pogba was eventually sent off in the second half, thus keeping him off the field when United face PSG in the second leg of the competition.

When Jesse Lingard was scanned for his hamstring injury, his rehabilitation was reported to last 3 weeks but it seems like he could make the subs for the game against Liverpool accordingly to the latest piece of injury update released from the club via their training ground pictures.

Lingard’s partner-in-crime, Anthony Martial faced a more severe groin injury and is expected to continue rehabilitation till the end of this month.

After missing almost the whole season due to injuries, after coming back from Argentina, Marcus Rojo was finally seen training handsomely and reports suggest that he might be included in the squad to face Liverpool.

Moving on, Antonio Valencia, the right-back who was among the string of controversies under Jose Mourinho was set to return on January 2 but a training injury further delayed his return. However, he is expected to be fit keeping the right-back position up for grabs.

Another promising player who suffered a string of injuries this season was Matteo Darmian. In what will serve as another massive injury boost for United, Matteo Darmian is reported to have completed his rehabilitation and the management will take a final call on his fitness ahead of the clash against Liverpool.

Solskjaer made one player crucial for their upcoming clash by showering accolades on the star of their FA Cup clash against Chelsea Ander Herrera. He was quoted as saying:

“His energy and tenaciousness are vital for us,”

“And that’s why he plays, more or less, every single game.

“He has loads of energy, he can cover the right-hand side, he runs forward. Tonight you can’t just praise one, it’s 11 players, plus the subs, but Ander has done fantastic.”

The upcoming game could be a fate-deciding clash for United as Liverpool have been unstoppable this season and United have often found it hard to cope against teams with sublime attacking trios. Given how the trio of Salah, Firmino and Mane have been simply exceptional this season, Solskjaer would be wary of the challenge that lies ahead but will see his cause boosted by the return of various first team players back from their respective injuries.
