United Receive Double Injury Boost | Strongest XI For Manchester United To Face Spurs

spurs,arsedevils

After a disaster against Brighton away, United face Spurs in a mouth-watering clash at Old Trafford on Monday. This game might turn out to be make or break for United’s season and Mourinho, whose future is in doubt into his third season at Old Trafford.

Provisional Squad against Spurs:

Goalkeepers: De Gea, Segio Romero, Lee Grant

Defenders: Matteo Darmian,Phil Jones,Lindelof, Chris Smalling,Marcus Rojo,Luke Shaw,Ashley Young

Midfielders: Fred,Andrieas Pereira,McTominay,Ander Herrera,Paul Pogba,Juan Mata

Attackers: Anthony Martial,Jesse Lingard,Marcus Rashford,Alexis Sanchez,Romelu Lukaku

Team News

Matic, Valencia and Dalot are still not available for selection, having been sidelined due to injuries and are still undergoing recovery.

Reports have suggested that Sanchez and Lukaku are doubts for the Spurs game, which could be a huge blow for United after a poor showing last time out. Sanchez missed the Brighton game due to unknown reasons, but both of United’s star men should be expected to play, considering the outcome could decide United’s season ahead.

Predicted Line-up Against Spurs

Jose Mourinho hinted at a tough start to the season for United during the pre-season and it might get more difficult for him against Spurs, against whom those predictions might prove to be true after a dreadful performance against Brighton.

Sanchez should be expected to be back against Spurs.

Formation: 4-3-3

Jose Mourinho will look to field the same formation against Spurs, with a back four and the mid-field trio of Pogba, Pereira and Fred.

Spurs,Arsedevils

Goalkeeper: David de Gea

Probably always the first name on United’s team sheet without any doubt. He might be disappointed after no clean sheets in the first two games of the season. He would like to add on to his heroic performances last term, having won the Golden Glove award last year.

Defense: Ashley Young, Chris Smalling, Phil Jones, Luke Shaw

Eric Bailly and Victor Lindelof are sure to be dropped after putting on a horror show against Brighton. Young and Shaw are likely to maintain their starting spots, so should Lindelof. Rojo is back from injury as well, after he gave a update on his injury status. This could be a major boost for Mourinho. If ever there was a time to return to the first-team picture and stake a claim for a starting spot, now is a good time to do it.

Midfield: Paul Pogba, Andreas Pereira, Fred

The mid-field is most likely to remain undisturbed, although captain Pogba and Fred were quite underwhelming against Brighton. Pogba has scored 2 goals from the penalty spot this season, but was quite sluggish in the away defeat. Fred has shown some promise and is likely to start. Pereira has made an excellent start to the season though and is unlikely to be dropped against Spurs, fitting quite well in the central defensive mid-field role.

Forwards: Juan Mata, Romelu Lukaku, Alexis Sanchez

Mata is expected to retain his place against Spurs on the right-side of the front three. Considering Lukaku and Sanchez are fit by Monday for Spurs, both should start. Lukaku should start after he opened his account for the season with a goal against Brighton. Sanchez is expected to be back to pip Martial on the left-side, who showed glimpses of what fans expect of him, but had an overall poor game.
